Anyone try the 800mhz overclock patch for the Pre?

The videos I've seen look way way faster than what mine runs at now but I'm scurred of burning up my Pre. Would Sprint replace a burned up Pre? The video is too tempting though. Can't hold out much longer...

On an unrelated note. What did you guys think of the new Adobe commercial which is basically an FU to apple? With as many times the Pre is shown on the video I sure hope we see this soon.

lol of course they wouldn't replace a phone that you messed up with overclocking. Don't know why you'd even ask that.

Meh, the commercial is pretty lame until I see it work well on phones. Some of the demos of the N1 were pretty crappy for video playback. Games might be ok, but you'd have to rewrite all the current games I'd gather.. since they are very mouse based.

But regarding the overclock, it gives me hope that sticking WebOS on snapdragon will help it immensely. I just hope palm does that AND optimizes it. If they don't do something soon, I have a strange feeling a lot of Sprint Pre customers will opt to use their 1yr Premiere upgrade soon.

Last I knew, they pulled the patch because they were working to move it to the preware ipkg install method, instead of a shell script. I think they were also still testing it with the 1.4.1.1 update.

Anyway, yes the 800MHz patch is awesome and I will promptly reinstall it when it's ready. Install the temperature monitoring patch as well for a little peace of mind.

Note: I do NOT condone scamming Sprint if you break your phone. But, for the sake of discussion, I think the big question is "how would they know?". All you did is apply a kernel patch...a software mod, not a hardware mod. I doubt there'd be any tell-tale evidence of the modification; and Palm, or whoever handles warranty returns, probably doesn't perform the forensics to find out. Then again, maybe they do. Certainly motherboard manufacturers must to some testing to prevent themselves from getting scammed by overclockers.

It has been determined that the kernel for OS1.4.1.1 is slightly different than the below version on the server. I think that this kernel will work and if this doesn't prove to be the case, the source code for OS1.4.1.1 version will be unavailable for some time (months). The current script does appear to work for many including myself, but some new issues have been reported after running the kernel several days. For those with issues, an uninstall/reinstall procedure apparently fixes this. For these reasons the ipk deployment has been halted to discourage inexperienced users until we get to the bottom of it.

I'm running the patch with 1.4.1.1 and it works fine (so far anyway). It may take away some of the changes made in the latest update since it replaced the kernal with a new one (and so by installing the 800mhz "patch" I'm essentially reverting back to the 1.4 kernal). But no problems anyway, and after having the patch, I couldn't deal with life without it frankly. I've become spoiled by it.

In any case, they'll release an update to it once Palm releases the new source code, which they think may be a week or two out yet.

Been running the 800 MHz patch for a lil' bit now, and absolutely love it! Won't go back - can't go back.

No problems yet, *fingers crossed*.

If it bricks, whatevs, I bought an extended warranty through Squaretrade.
