I'm a self admitting gin whore but I have yet to try this one because of the description:

Tanqueray Rangpur Gin was introduced in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2006. It has a strong lime flavor, the result of rangpur limes, ginger, and bay leaves being added during the final distillation process. It is produced at 82.6 proof (41.3% alcohol) and is now available throughtout all of the United States.

Anyone give this guy a go yet? I don't want a strong fruit flavor to the gin but most 'strong flavored' fruit infused alcohols are very subtle. Also, wtf is up with the lower proof?

I had a rangpur and tonic a few months back, I think...assuming rangpur was actually out then, and I'm not confusing it with some other new gin tanqueray came up with. Wasn't half bad.

Was it too strong with the fruit flavoring?

oh man i'm salivating just thinking about it

it's good, but frankly, regular Tanquery to me is almost as good and for the $ a much better way to go!

Yeah I've tried it and I have to say it's really good for gin and tonics, not sure about martinis. We've had Rangpur here in MD for a while and I find myself buying it over regular Tanq., Ten would still be the go-to for martini's but Rangpur is my new favorite for gin and tonics.

I might need to try this. I use to drink gin a lot...usually would go for Bombay Sapphire but when given the opportunity would definitely drink Tanqueray 10.

Hmmm, limes, ginger, and bay leaves added to my dirty martini? I guess it's worth a try, but you'll have to pry the Bombay Blue Sapphire bottle out of my hand.

Hate Bombay Sapphire, too much on the botanical side.

Tanqueray & tonics with lime. Yum!

You think Bombay Sapphire is more "botanical" than Tanqueray? I think just the opposite. Bombay Sapphire is a really smooth, good gin, but I think it much less "botanical' than Tanquery.

Tanqueray and tonic with lime is my favorite summertime drink. I am actually drinking a Rangpur and tonic right now and to me it tastes just like regular Tanqueray with lime, which is nice and convenient because I always seem to be out of limes.

Flavored alcohols are often bottled at lower proofs than the straight stuff. It allows the flavors to be more pronounced. I love regular Tanqueray, but have not tried the Rangpur nor do I have any plans to do so. If I want any of my gin drinks to be lime flavored I'll add a lime wedge.

Well I tried it.. makes a terrible martini that's for sure.. tasted too sweet and watered down.

I'm not a big tonic guy so I doubt it will get much use from me.. gonna stick with the Ten.
