Anyone try out the new Prime95?

Looks as though Prime95 has gotten a little update with 3 different test you can run, including those that stress out the ram. Anybody see any difference testing with the old Prime95 as opposed to the new Prime95?

Yep...the difference is when you get an error it is more muddled in what area the problem may be coming from...When I do run it I run the test with little to no ram tested...I use memtest to test my memory and try to isolate the cpu in the prime test....

I actually like to run version 22 the "old style" because I now what the heck I am getting..I can care less about the prime benchmarking to need to update my version....

Some have suggested running 2 instances of version 23.6-23.8 was more prone to errors then version 22...I never saw it from the limited testing with version 23 I have done....

If the blend test fails, you have a hardware issue. I've had the blend test fail, and have corrected it by adjusting memory timings or clock speeds.

I did not declare my new rig stable until I could run the blend test and SuperPi over night without failure.

BTW, just for some info: Prime95 Version 23.7 has a bug that causes Windows errors on some new hardware. They have acknowledged this and suggest using v23.8 instead.

Ok ,,, so I did some more testing,,,

I dropped my fsb 3 MHz ,,, and have been running ok so far (about 3 hours)

So ,,, I'm at a loss now as where my problem lies at the higher fsb ...

Cuz memtest86 runs overnite without error at higher fsb ...

And normal Prime runs OK at that fsb also ..
(I can run Prime95 AND 3dmark AND MBM at same time without errors ,, look at my linky)

Well ,,, anyway ,,, I'm still testing this 'blend' to find out why ...

I've run the "blend" for two hours stable. I started it with everything closed and didn't touch it. I can open a jpeg and it will show an error. That's version 23.7. Where can I find 23.8?

ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v238.zip

But if Prime is showing the error and not Windows shutting Prime down, then it's most likely a hardware issue. Opening the Jpeg just puts it over the top.

I'm ignoring the 'blend' test ...

My standards are met with Prime95 and 3dmarks and hardware monitors running at same time.

This test has never produced a BSOD or Freeze in any app I have been running for several years now.

The 'blend' may have issues with DDR or NF2 I think... (IMO)

This new version of Prime95 is much tuffer on the system also ... I did have to change my config to run without error ...

But I'm not willing to figure out why the Blend wont run.
