Anyone try out nba street vol 2 yet?

anyone have any opinion on it? i'm considering to buy it...too bad there's no online play, that totally sucks. but i heard the gameplay more than makes up for it.

Nope, but I was at EB, watched a demo of it, man it looked great. I was really interested in trying it out, and I am not even a basketball fan.

I played it for like 6 hours yesterday at my friend's house.

This. Game. Rocks.

Take everything that was good about the original Street and make it 10x better. Better gameplay, better gfx, more features, etc.

I have both the PS2 and Xbox and I think I'll end up getting the PS2 version just because the Xbox's controller will be very unhelpful for that type of game.

Freaking GREAT game. Sooooo much fun to play. My copy arrived today and I'm actually up at 4am playing it and not Zelda (even though I'm getting close to the end in Zelda), that is how much fun I'm having right now with it. It is a little easy on the easiest mode if you've played the first NBA Street (ie - I can easily get 60k+ combo's no sweat and I got a double gamebreaker in 3 points) but it's still tons of fun. Its everything the first version was times 10. Pick it up, you won't be disappointed.

I got this game yesterday and I played it all night. This game seriously kicks ass! I just wish it was Live enabled for XBox, but I guess we can't have everything.

Wow, it sounds good, but I don't have any friends who are into that sort of game so I'll have to pass. 🙁

I like NBA Live 2003 too, despite its many flaws. 🙂

I got it yesterday and I agree with the above. This game kicks ass, if you're a fan of arcade style basketball you have to pick it up. The single player is ok, but multiplayer with friends is the way to play. I was playing it until 4am when I was supposed to wake up at 9. 😕

Its fun and all, but the trick system and gamebreakers are just retarded. Its basketball, not tony hawk. All the tricks do is slow the game down, and its not like they take any skill to do, you just push the y or x button a few times while you wait for one of your teammates to jump into an alley oop.

I just got it last night. I never played the original (I have Xbox), but I think it's pretty fun. I'm still trying to get the hang of all the tricks and stuff.

I think you're missing the entire point of the game.
If you have good timing you can swat away almost every alley-oop and block most gamebreakers.
You use tricks to get your gamebreaker meter up, and this definitely takes a LOT more skill than any generic NBA game. If you don't think it takes skill you're not trying hard enough. You probably played on easy, didn't you?

Also, if you wanted "Real" basketball there's plenty of games out there. It's like dissing Tony Hawk because it's not "real" skateboarding or SSX because it's not "real" snowboarding, or Def Jam because it's not "real" wrestling.

I take it you've never played or gotten into NBA Jam or NFL Blitz or any arcade/sport games?

Nah, NBA Jam I love. NFL Blitz is great. I just think that the tricks take away from the focus of the game, which is actually trying to get the ball in the hoop. NBA Jam is so fast paced, and this is just slowed down by the necessity to do tricks in order to build up the gamebreaker meter, which is pretty much the end of the game once you get to level 2. Its not so much the tricks I mind as much as the gamebreaker, which is just absurd, and totally unbalances the game. The focus of the game is now to get the meter up by doing the same tricks a million times, not to play basketball.

Gamebreaker is sorta like "He's on fire" in NBA Jam, except it's nearly 99% guarantee the shot will go in... not to mentioned the point swing.

In NBA Jam, your chances are increased, not as much as Streets, but the duration of your "fire" lasts until your opponent scores.

Somewhat similar.

BTW, it's a great game and I'll be looking to pick it up once I find it for cheap 😛

I guess that's a way to look at it, but if you're playing against another person, doing the same tricks a million times will not be too successful as he can just trick counter you and drive it straight to the hole sans tricks for the easy bucket. 🙂

I like the blocking in the game, no better feeling than timing it right and swatting that dunk away, or turbo blocking a 3pter.

The ultimate feel of victory is swatting a gamebreaker shot. Ooooooh it hurts! CAN YOU FEEL IT?!

I'd say my favorite part of the game is the commentary. It's hilarious. "That was a 584 on a scale of 1 to 10!"

Do you realize that Target has a 90-day return policy? That means that if you find it cheaper somewhere else, you can buy it there and return the original to Target, as long as it's within 90 days.

I think it'll be more than 90 days before Streets Vol. 2 becomes a PS2 best seller for $19.99 😉

Oh, you mean that cheap. 🙂

Gamebreakers can be turned off in multiplayer. There are plenty of settings to get it to play the way your talking about.
From the sounds of it....you havent givin the game much time🙁

This game is excellent....

fun game. My brother picked it up for X-Box, but never played the GameCube version, though we have that also. My gf complained that the X-Box, Vol.2 was slower paced than the GameCube, Vol.1

The game is pretty fun. If I had money I'd probably buy it.

I am of naturally unstoppable (currently on a 8 game winning streak against my friends, who rented it).
