anyone try google Sketch Up?

Never heard of it but installing it now. I'm sure I'll get bored after a little while but I'm always up for more ways to kill down time at work.

I've messed around with it a bit. I like it and I think it's pretty cool, but I don't have a reason to use it. (I'm not a designer or an engineer)

Designed an entire basement remodel with it...allows extremely precise measurement and I have the entire construction broken down into components from subflooring and framing all the way up to fixtures. It takes some time to get used to, but it is an excellent product if you're willing to stick with it.

This is neat, and very easy.

Hopefully Google will force other 3D software makers to improve ergonomics in their software.

I'll have to try the pro version at home to see how it is different.

ive used both sketchup and autocad.

sketchup > autocad. no contest...light years ahead, imho. the ease of use doing 3d in sketchup is quite impressive.
the learning curve on autodesk products is way higher.

if i were at autodesk, i'd be very scared of sketchup.
