Anyone try dried persimmons before?

I just got dried persimmons from Costco, but they have white mold all over them. Looks gross. But the directions say to rinse them under hot water.

It looks exactly like this:

Are they edible? I can tell it's not sugar coating, because they have random white dots all over them. I'm not sure if it's okay to eat moldy persimmons.

That's actually how they look when on the tree too. Kind of a white waxy outside. They are quite good just not very sweet.

Never had them before, but I think that's natural.

Dried peaches or nectarines are so hard to find but they rock!

i assure you 100% that's what it's supposed to be. I grew up eating persimmons - dried or fresh.
