anyone try copper shim??

Copper Shims are NOT good for TBIRDS/DURONS. They reflect the heat while the ceramic base that they cover is designed to absorb the heat.
 
copper shims imo are too expensive. you can make your own balancer with some paper and proper kind of tape. it might look ghetto but who's gonna be lookin under a hs.
 
Heat will not travel back into the CPU if you put a spacer on it.

Heat is energy, just like electricity

Energy will take the path of least resistance.

Where is there more resistance:
In a heatsink that is being cooled by a fan, or in a schorching hot cpu?

The heatsink... a spacer might actually help cool it better.

Have you NEVER heard of heat reflectors ?? Go and read your science books. Heat is easily reflected between the heatsink and the copper shim. The ceramic base of TBIRD/DURON is designed to ABSORB the heat and carry it to
the bottom of the package. While its true that heat is energy, the design of any heatsink is to absorb the energy and then dissipate the energy into the air. Don't take my word for it, E-Mail AMD, they will tell you NOT to use copper shims
