I have one of those. Mine's green. I got it for camping, but I also infrequently use it in the house. If I manually make coffee, I usually use a French press. I've also cooked grinds directly in the pot, but I don't recommend that. One thing I've always wanted to try is Turkish coffee. I need to get off my ass and make that happen.

my gf uses one for camping, too.

i can appreciate good coffee, but i dont feel like screwing around with it most of the time. i just buy so so coffee at the store and use a regular coffee maker. on weekends ill use a french press sometimes. its better that way, but....i dont always give a damn :-/

Coffee snobs!!! Just toss a couple scoops of folders into a pot of water. Boil it, then pour it over a paper towel into a cup. :colbert:

I think I'm just going to put coffee straight into a pan, boil it and just pour it through a filter.

edit: dark beat me to it!

That is how real.men used to do it before becoming domesticated. Filters were for wussy though. The grounds will settle to the bottom of the pot.

I remember I used to heat up a tall pot on a wood fired stove, throw in some coffee grinds, let them mix around then settle then throw in a little cold water in. The cold water used to help take the grinds down to the bottom.

Still used to have gritty coffee though.

The guy in the OP video is so full of shit. Counter-clockwise? Really? It's going to taste different than if I poured clockwise?

It's counter-clockwise because he's north of the equator. If you're making coffee south of the equator, you want to pour it in CLOCKWISE because of the Coriolis effect. It's a minor difference, true, but REAL coffee drinkers can taste the improvement and appreciate people who take the time to do it the right way.

I never understood people drinking coffee. I guess I'm glad I don't have that dependency like my GF, "OMG I HAS TO HAVE COFFEE TO START MY DAY"

My wife doesn't drink coffee and truthfully I can skip it for days with no side effects but I generally do like to have a cup in the morning. It's just part of my ritual and I enjoy it.

I like this method for making coffee because I don't have to brew half a pot and this makes a really good cup of coffee.

I never drink coffee after that first morning cup though. I'm not one of those people who can drink coffee throughout the day.
