i forgot which forum it was... i think it xtreme... some guys were able to hit 2.7 ghz with the 266 fsb version of the 2700+ with air and around 1.85 volts...

the 266 fsb version of the 2700+ are harder to find...

and people really don't o/c these things cuz they are a lot more expensive and you can get a 1700+ for dirt cheap and hit 2.4 easily...

I've had my 2700+ for about 6 months now and I just ordered a alpha to overclock it. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience overclocking this processor? I have an Asus A7n8x (rev. 1.06) and 400 DDR running @ 333. I want to get the FSB up to 200 ( maybe a pipe dream) and run the ram at sync. Anybody know how these overclock? I don't know the stepping but I will when I go change the heatsink.

if yur memory can handle the speeds you should have no problem hitting 200mhz or more with that chip and an nforce setup

the nforce board is great for overclocking cause it can lock the pci bus so yur other devices aren't stressed and won't become yur oc bottleneck

good luck
and don't be afraid to lower yur clock mult to compensate for increasing the fsb

I was able to run a retail 2700+ (from newegg) at 11.5x200fsb at stock voltage and HSF for several weeks.

Does anybody know if all if any of the 2700+'s are unlocked (I never looked at the bridge when I installed it :( ) or will I need to connect the bridge?

Dack76 I read on another post that boards with an nforce2 chip such as the asus a7n8x automatically unlock chips. Not sure if that's true but I just ordered a 2700+ w/ 333 FSB so I have been learning all I can about OCing it, and out of all the posts I have read, no one mentioned connecting the bridge. Hope that helps

2300 mhz on stock voltage? very nice

Thanks! My current 3000+ does the same 2305Mhz (11.5x200fsb) at stock voltage too.

Any decent current mobo, including the nForce2 chipset based ones, unlock AMD chips. This does not include ECS mobos, 'cause I said decent. :p
