Sorry for parsing your post, but...

Are you saying that you leave Firefox running for several days?

Firefox has always been a memory hog. The longer you leave Fx running -- the more memory it uses.

The same applies to CPU usage, especially after running Flash apps (online games, videos, et cetera).

Restarting Fx occasionally takes care of the problem (for a while)....

yeah. its not a huge problem for me to restart though. how about the keyboard issue though, its not that big a deal either, but ive noticed that problem has persisted for the late few distros so im sort of suprised they havent fixed it

My bedroom computer with Ubuntu has been running about 2 weeks solid, and Firefox has been open the whole time. CPU usage is normal, as is ram usage. My Ubuntu netbook has up times of a month or more, and I never have trouble with that. While I put the netbook to sleep, my bedroom computer is folding, and generating heat for me.

I don't know why yours would go to hell, especially across multiple installs.

also (and this is a problem with all recent versions of mint) the keyboard stops working in firefox and you have to restart it to get your keyboard to work again?

I've been hearing about miscellaneous keyboard issue since Ubuntu 10.04. One of them has something to do with Bluetooth and one with Firefox. I guess I'm fortunate that I've never experienced either of them.
