I have been wanting to go wireless in my home for some time now, but I keep reading horror stories about poor range, router lockups, dropped connections, etc. I would like to try something different and wanted to hear from anyone using Microsoft's wireless router with their USB and notebook adapters. Do they work well for you? Would you recommend them over other wireless solutions from Linksys, D-Link, Netgear? Thanks.

Here is PC Magazine's Review. My impression from this and other reviews is that the equipment looks nice and is fairly user friendly, but it doesn't work any better than the stuff from other vendors, plus it costs more.

I just hooked up the base and 2 usb adapters for my cousin today. Installation was alot smoother than I thought it would be. The installation software pretty much did everything for me. You put in the included floppy to put your network info on it. Then you use the floppy to set up the other computers.

I've seen other systems cheaper. The base was $119 and the usb adapter was $59 after rebates. My cousin also bought an adapter for their daughter's laptop, but I didn't install it cause she cracked the shiot out of the screen and I couldn't see enough to install it. She's supposed to be getting it fixed this week.

I, myself, would probably go for the cheaper equipment. It all probably has about the same performance anyway.
