No, but I did try that Brita filter trick on some cheap vodka this weekend. It worked like a charm, 4 passes and it was the smoothest, best tasting vodka I've ever had.

It seems like a gimmicky vodka to me, more time spent on the decoration than the overall taste. The finish isn't very smooth on it. I would go with grey goose or stoli for cheap. If you can find it, try 'Rodnik' vodka or Red Army vodka, both have an incredibly smooth finish and taste. Rodnik is one of the best vodka's I've ever tasted.

Belvedere and Chopin are both Polish vodkas if that tells you much, between those two I would do Chopin.
Grey Goose is a much better vodka, from the cognac region of France.
You know my thoughts of Level.

I would do Grey Goose

Define good...

It is not a cheap vodka by any means, nor is it an expensive one. I drink it most often as it's a good middle of the road vodka, and it's Russian, has a wonderful aftertaste and goes well with meals

I was just reading a forbes article on this. Absolut Vodka used to be the trendy drink and now it's being challenged by Grey Goose and Belvedere for market share. The article also says how most people can't really tell the difference.

They brought in an expert taster and he ranked them as follows
1. Absolut - Rich texture, smooth
2. Level (by Absoult) - Vivacious and syrupy in texture
3. Grey Goose - Neutral in smell and flavor, short, silky
4. Smirnoff - Fairly smooth, a little bite, peppery
5. Jean Marc XO - tastes like pine sol

Can some of the vodka connoisseurs explain the flavor/texture differences between potato and grain vodkas? I've always been told by vodka snobs that potato vodka > grain vodka. Is there any truth to that? What brands are potato vodkas? I can't really find any that are clearly marked that way.
