Thinking of trying Keto for the next 8 weeks than easing back into a regular 40/40/20 over 6 weeks after that. Been reading a lot in regards to it on BB.com and was curious if anyone has tried it?

Never tried it, but you may want to ease into it, and get a lot of fiber along the way. Don't want to get clogged up 😛

Keto is fine I wouldn't say it's the most fun but I did it for four months. It works, just have to make it through the first few weeks.

Ah I didn't even see responses. I have moved my start date for it to Feb 1st, started cutting my carbs down in January from 150-200 average Jan 1st, at about 50-75 now. Figure it would lessen the shock when I go to pretty much zero. Also have been stocking up on meat, alot of meat (in before that is what she said jokes).

Goal Kooldrew is to get this last 6% of BF off to go from 16-10%. I lost alot of weight (over 200 pounds so far) and I have some extra skin, well, a lot of extra skin. I have seen enough people go down to 8-10% BF who had loose skin and lose it all so I would rather bust my balls and try that before surgery. 🙂

It works. I don't think its the healthiest thing so its not a diet I would follow long term, but it definitely works.

You should be able to go from 16 to 10% bodyfat no problem without resorting to a keto diet as the real benefits have to do with stubborn fat which don't really become a problem until sub-10% levels anyway. With that said, if you still decide to go that route make sure to frequently incorporate refeeds into the diet. I think everybody should incorporate them into their diet, but it's of even more importance on a low carb diet and will be more important as bodyat drops. Protein intake is of even more importance in a low carb diet as well.

Bringing the body into total ketosis has no benefits in terms of fat loss or protein sparing. By lowering your carb intake to 20% of your total calories you still get lowered insilun, higher catecholamine output, and more fat oxidation, which are the main benefits of a low carb diet. The only time I might suggest a ketosis diet when restricting calories severely, in which case it becomes necessary to bring calories down as low as possible, and ketosis is just a side effect. However, this type of diet should only be done for very short time period and I usually don't recommend it.

My suggestion is either use a higher carb intake or lower carbs to about 20% total calories if you really want to go with a low carb diet. There's simply no benefit of going any lower and it will allow you to be a bit more flexible in your diet which would make it easier to stick to.

Keto diets can and do work for cutting weight, but you would be better off in the long term figuring out how to eat carbs in moderation instead of treating it like an all-or-nothing proposition. Pretty much everyone I've known who has done keto/Atkins diets has ballooned back and forth in weight because they don't learn how to eat good carbs in small portions on a regular basis. They bounce from one extreme to the next.

How much do you weigh now and what is your goal weight?
