Monarch Computer's Reseller Ratings Have Major Hit !

http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2079.html

Their Ratings have fallen from a Lifetime 8.75 to a Poor 5.45 for the last six months.

Most of the Dissatisfaction seems to center around Poor Customer Service, Refund Policies, and "Pre-Order" Policies.

Numerous People have been burnt by Monarch on Intel Conroe associated launch issues, and either lack of delivery, or outright fraud. Just read the associated reviews below their ratings.

Georgia Gov.Sonny Perdue's Governor's The Office Of Consumer Affairs is "Investigating Numerous Complaints, and may take further action soon."(IE: Restraining Order/Shut-Down)

Monarch at one time was a Top Vendor... I'm not sure what happened, but they have fallen a long way in a short time...

If you have un-resolved Issues With Monarch.... I would Reccomend Contacting The Georgia Governors Office of Consumer Affairs

I got an mobo + Opteron just three weeks ago, and everything was handled perfectly. I'm wondering if the problems were just with the Conroes?

Hmm. one post new member. You wouldn't happen to work for a competitor, such as Newegg?

Your link to the governor's website doesn't work. Where is the proof that the Office Of Consumer Affairs is "Investigating Numerous Complaints, and may take further action soon." ???

Interesting to see the ratings at RR. I wonder where Monarch is going. Maybe this guy is just trying to bias all of us against Monarch but there are reviews over at RR spread out over some time.

Link is correct now........ Just trying to warn Consumers.... Not Point them anywhere.

If you still feel good about them after reading their ratings... be my guest and order from them.... Just don't say that you were not warned...

If you have not noticed Lal has distanced Anand from them over the last year also.

Have A Great Day !

Excerpted From Rules Sticky :

What about CONSUMER RIGHTS and BAD DEALS?

We all know there are dishonest dealers on the Internet. We also know that, at one time or another, everyone makes honest mistakes. Legitimate Hot Deals are Hot. Dishonest, deceptive and fraudulant offers and practices are NOT.

If a company has acted dishonestly or fraudulantly, threads discussing legal ways to enforce your rights are a valid and important topic for discussion.

If a company posts a deal and then cancels it for reasons such as a pricing error, before you scream for blood or go looking for a lawyer, consider the circumstances:

* Did the original ad contain enough information to show that the company knew (or should have known) the true value of the items offered and the amount of the discount they were offering?
* Did the company announce the cancelation in a timely manner?
* Did the company offer any reasonable compensation (discount, gift certificate, etc.) to those who were legitimately inconvenienced by their actions?
* Does the company have a documented history of "bait-and-switch" or other questionable tactics?

If, after considering these questions, you believe a company has acted dishonestly or fraudulantly, we welcome threads discussing your rights and legal ways to enforce them. Please remember:

* Uninformed rants and misinformation accomplish nothing.
* Calls for illegal acts of retaliation can only lead to trouble. Those who engage in such acts may lose any rights they had and end up with legal problems of their own.
* If a bunch of greedy people actually manage to hurt a good company, it will only ruin future good deals for everyone.

Try to keep all posts about a given problem in one thread. If you start a consumer action thread, you get to maintain it. If the thread gets too long, start a continuation thread, and post links from old thread to the new one and from the new thread back to the old one.

I've bought from M/C before and never had any issue but at the same time I've also found this post to be very informative.
It's good to know up front what you may expect from a e-retailer like this before pulling the trigger with your c/c out of your wallet.
Thanks OP

I had a horrible experience with Monarch with a conroe pre-order too. They were rude when I ordered (in store) . I ordered a motherboard processor combo where it comes installed. The delivery date was delayed like 3 times, they claimed this was normal for new items. If this was the norm and they are experienced, then why put up a knowingly false delivery date? Oh yeah, to get more orders. After my purchase, I wanted to exchange the motherboard to a better one (+$200 more), they initially wouldn't let me return it stating it was a open box! WTF, they opened the box. Then I had to fight to get them to accept it with a 15% restocking fee. The only reason why I didn't rate them horrible on resellerratings is because the time I picked up my combo the very last time, they reopened the store 5 minutes after they closed.

its kinda curious as to why tons of those evals for Monarch are from users with only one post.

kinda like its odd that the one post from these users was to bash Monarch... I am not saying that I like them.. just interesting.

I have found their service to be sub par.
I ordered a combo from them and it was suppose to come with some extra's. Like game's , pens, and some other stuff.
The combo arrived but the only extra I got was a lance armstrong rubber band.
They said several times that they would ship my extras a s soon as they could. They said that several times.
Then one day they said in order to get the freebies I would have to return the whole thing and have it reshipped with the freebies ! WTF!
Seemed weasely to me.

anyway the board was fine and I got a fair deal on it, so not to upset. But I would not dare order anything from them that was refurbished, open box, or clearanced.

I think the wrong forum police just got owned.

I found this info very interesting, especially since the ratings at RR show a huge drop.

Reseller ratings is not a reliable way to judge a company. Office Depot has a 6-mo rating of 1.07, OfficeMax 3.75, Circuit City 3.13, Fry's/Outpost 2.7, etc. Using that ruler, Monarch should be a much more reliable company than any of those.

i've used monarch several times and up until recently have been very pleased with them. my last experience with them was not favorable and i will no longer spend my money there. i did post my experience at resellerratings just so people have the neccessary information to make a buying decision. in total i've dealt with them 5 times and the first 3 i was very impressed, the fourth they could have handled better and finally the fifth was totally unacceptable. i had to go to my credit card company to issue me the refund.
it's a shame because when they were good they were very good but like many over a resellerratings when they're bad they're terrible.

But tech savvy people who purchase expensive, complicated, and specific technology items do not post at RR for Office Depot or Office Max. They are widely established retail stores where you have a brick & mortar outlet to get let them have it and try to get your issues resolved. The rest of these places are online entities - sometimes new, sometimes old - but RR is the best way to get an idea of how reliable these places will be in dealing with. Should you base your purchasing decision solely on RR? No. Should you expect trouble if their ratings are in the toilet? Yes.

OP spread the word. I dealt with them far before Conroe and my first time was my last. Read my RR review:
http://www.resellerratings.com/seller_i...r_id=2079&comment=235086#comment235086

To Monarch's credit (or discredit) honestly, someone higher up on their staff that monitors ResellerRatings called me numerous times to try to "fix this." It's sad they harass me about getting a good reseller rating, but can't have the proper system in place to make an efficient business.

I've had shipping issues. Both times I ordered from them, they took forever to ship. I even had to go as far as calling them to see what the hold up was. It tokk well over a week to get my items while paying for expidited shipping. You can't even compare them to NewEgg. IMO- they suck; I won't buy from them again.

They've been good to people as far as i've herd but i guess its conroe problems? Never and refuse to order from them through their website. Uglier before than it is now but still not intuitive.

I ordered from them once several years ago and it was an o.k. experience.

They did take a few days longer than I would have liked to ship, but it wasn't an unreasonable amount of time.

However, there have been a lot of posts here at Anandtech with members having major problems with them. They were restructuring or something at some point, but that excuse got old very fast.

If the search function worked better here, it would be easier to pull them all up.

I now mostly stay with Newegg, ZZF, and Fry's.

lol! You mean the same tech savvy persons who shop at Newegg and leave negative reviews, typically citing reasons like:

'It works fine but did not come with cables, manuals, software and only a 30 day warranty.' (clearly marked OEM product)

'Drive works OK but NEC has no firmware updates available' (NEC had a firmware update, he just went to the wrong website)

'Motherboard won't POST with my Celeron D...exchanged motherboard and the replacement did the exact same thing!' (Item details and manufacturer link clearly state does not support Prescott core CPU...e.g. Celeron D)

Of course, these tech savvy users always rate their own technical knowledge and experience as 'very high'. Well, that could be, its just that they obviously can't read.

Customer ratings have proven over and over to inordinately be influenced by dullards and imbeciles who either can't be bothered to read clearly stated terms and details or don't have a clue what they are doing (or both).
