Anyone taken the test to be a Census 2010 worker?

I went to the local library today to take the test just for fun. The pay is about twice minimum and is evening work, so I may actually take a job if they offer.
Anyone else take the test?
You can see the sample questions on the Census website, and they are pretty indicative of the actual questions.
I compare this to the ASVAB, a test you would think most would ace, but so many barely pass even though the passing grade would be a failure on any other test (50% when I took the ASVAB). The Census test was a 50% test as well, if I understood the proctor correctly.

Isn't the census over with?

No, they send out people to houses that don't response and to areas where people might have been uncounted.

From what I've read, if you have an above high school education and intelligence, the training courses are a joke.

Me for example, we never received the census, my room-mate contacted them and informed them we never received it. They said we should see one in a couple of days, it has been over a week I believe and still nothing has arrived concerning the census. More than likely, I will get someone knocking on my door to ask me questions

I can confirm that at least one AT member has applied to be a Census 2010 worker and presumably took the exam.

My recollection of the process is that they first send it out by mail, and then they send in workers to go door-to-door. It's cheaper by mail, so it's preferred people complete the form and mail it back....

I'm in the same boat. The census is actually a big deal to me. I was looking at census records from the late 18th century trying to track my genealogy and I want to be certain that there's a record of my family, today.

The ballyhoo that we hear regarding 'government tracking' or other nefarious crap is so overblown. Back in the early 1800's they would ask the names, age, relation, profession, and even the value of the estate. They would further ask where each was born, what language they spoke and the origin of their parents. I want to use the Pear of Anguish on people that tell me the census is evil.

Yea, they had the Sectary of Commerce on the Daily Show. I forget how many millions he said would have to be spend if people didn't return the census. They were planning on hiring 700,000 people.
