Anyone taken a hot air balloon ride?

I'd be all about receiving a balloon ride as a gift or something. But I cringe at the thought of paying that much for it for myself. $150 sounds reasonable.

I think I've settled on waiting to the end of the vacation, and if I have spending money left over, I'll do it.

parachutes?

I believe all passengers get a bottle of Fizzy Lifting Drink from the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory.

My mom took a cross country trip last year and said the Tetons was one of the best stops on the trip.

And she saw a TON of amazing places that most of us dream about.

Grand Canyon, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon, Yellow Stone, the Badlands, Silverton Colorado (the train ride is amazing)

So based on what she saw and what she said I would spend the money.

must be nice to have disposable income like that.

$300/person is too much for me, but I could see how it would be worth it.

If you can afford it, by all means do it. My ex bro in law used to give rides out of Pheonix. I went quite a few times and loved every minute of it. I got to watch a balloon land on the roof of a house. Early morning flights are the best.

Going rates around here are $179/person for an hour flight, and $500 for a private flight for two.

It's spendy, but every dammed thing is more expensive when it's attached to a National Park.

Is it WORTH the cost? That's up to you, but it IS an amazing experience.

I've been up in a couple, and we sent my mom on one for her 65th b-day. She LOVED it...start to finish. (but declined go go on another trip) 😀

My Mom went on a hot air balloon ride when she was in Africa and loved it. I saw some video of the experience and it did look pretty fun.

It's not something you do every day, so $300 for the experience seems worth it to me.

agreed... i think teton is way overrated (and how could they possibly have called it tetons anyway... real desperate?!??!)

for 300$ u could go skydiving 3 times... or skydiving + scuba diving + beer

yes its worth it. we did it for our 20th anniversary and he took the balloon down to a lake and dipped the basket in the water. then we glided over the lake at about 1 foot. it was cool and i felt like i was a bird.

Make sure you start lighting a cigarette while you are up in the air and see what they say.

I must be missing something. What danger will the cigarette present that the giant flame doesn't?

French trappers...away from the mademoiselles for long periods of time...EVERY mountain reminded them of tits...😀

We went in Colorado Springs at $250/person and it was *awesome*. We had a blast, and it's very neat to just float over mountains and plains and houses and cars with nothing underneath you or around you but that short basket. If you've got the cash, do it. Nothing else quite like it.
