So basically I've had this going on for about a year now and its really irritating and itchy.

I just had a Doctor write me a scrip for some Steroid creme. Haven't got it filled yet though.

Anyone got advice for me or helpful hints on how to treat it? The doctor was in a rush it seems and he didn't explain much to me. Basically just told me what it was, that is was tricky to treat ( great! ), and then he wrote me a scrip.

have had it since a child. it's awful. itchy and red when it flares up. i just use a steroid cream to keep it under control. sometimes after a few years it goes away in some parts ( )

the docs say basically there is no cure for the type i have (atopic, something to do with th eimmune system). though maybe you are just having a temporary allergy. do an allergy test?

Most doctors will prescribe a bit of cortico-steroid for the stuff. It's fine and it works for short term or small areas. Prolonged use of the steroid creams or ointments will cause the skin to thin and create a few other problems, particularly if you have sensitive skin.

Are you under a lot of pressure? You might want to relax a bit. Stress-related eczema is quite common.

If you have large coverage, I recommend going swimming and use lots of moisturiser after taking showers.

Thanks for advice so far. I cannot imagine having this since child. 1 year has been horrible enough.

It maybe as simple as stress but with my luck I doubt it. I probably have the incurable eczema and I'm DOOMED. heh.

I had it when I was young. Doctor gave me this ointment thing for me to use, and it slowly faded out. Don't have any now (I'm 15)

Edit: Actually, I still have a spare tube left over. Here's some details:
It's called Dermasone Ointment
By Technilab
Says DIN 01910280 in the corner
0.05% w/w (Whatever that means)
Clobetasol 17 propionate ointment
Topical corticosteroid

Hope that helps, it worked wonders for me. Everytime there was some stuff, I put it on before I slept and it cleared up by morning.

Oh god - 10 seconds ago, I just had an itch on my thumb, and I can see tiny water blisters starting to form.
I use Elidel, but sometimes, I get it anyway.
It sucks.

I had it on my leg.. I just put cream (hand cream) on frequently and it just went away. It wasn't very bad, though.
