We've got a hurricane coming and I was just remembering the good-ole days, back in the DOS era...had a little nostalgia for these apps. I know wordperfect is still being developed though I don't know anybody who uses it. 1-2-3 and Harvard Graphics still exist but haven't heard of a new version in ages. Kind of makes me wish the companies would turn over the products to the open source community, I'd love to see what they look like now.

Anybody still use these? Miss them? Know if they are anygood now?

I'm tempted to buy the programs, esp Wordperfect and 1-2-3 bc i spent a lot more time in those. Oh well it'll fade tommorrow.

The U.S. Department of Justice uses WordPerfect, and has recently re-committed to doing so for another term of contract.
Most of my family uses WordPerfect (it's kind of a regional thing now). I mostly use OpenOffice because it saves me having to boot Windows, but for any word processing that's beyond basic or for which I want some degree of control, I use WordPerfect.
I really wish Corel would open WordPerfect's code and let the community port it, but as long as they're making money it makes business sense to keep their intellectual property proprietary.

as said ^, I've heard that a significant portion of the legal business still runs WordPerfect

I'm still a fan of WordPerfect 6 - I wrote a ton of stuff on that years ago, and it just seemed to do a damn good job without bloat.
