Anyone still smoke?

I thought smokers were mostly gone by now but I've run into two of them in the last month so now I'm not sure.

Is anyone here still a smoker?

Why?

We had a woman apply for us and on the first page of the application it asks three questions:

Have you ever smoked tobacco?
If yes, are you a current smoker?
If no, when did you quit?

Then the week before, I was at the walgreens drive through and some woman pulled up behind us smoking. Yeah, I'm dead serious, smoking at the health store! It filled my car with so much smoke I had to leave and go inside to get my meds. I'm definitely switching to cvs now.

I would have answered your first question with "None of your fucking business."

Ah, excellent. That response answers far more than the questions I asked.

It might, or it might just mean that I work in a field where I don't have to answer the stupid, intrusive questions some HR dick came up with.

You're very hostile.

Are you under the impression that smoking tobacco doesn't have serious health consequences?

Yep, plenty of assholes still smoke. I know this because the assholes who smoke make it their asshole business to make sure I know they smoke by blowing their smoke in my face. I hope that HR questionnaire is backed up by a company policy of not hiring asshole smokers because, you know fuck asshole smokers.

Yes, we can't hire smokers because of the health risks associated. I'm not in HR but something about the employment safety act I think.

I smoke cigars.

But, I don't even smoke outside.

It is inside my apartment (by the window, with the fan blowing outwards) and at any cigar events / shops. I don't stroll around the neighborhood or sit outside cafes - I find that obnoxious.

I have these suckers in my humidor:
- Alec Bradley Black Market
- Oliva Cain F
- Diesel Hair of the Dog
- Man O War Phalanx
- 5 Vegas 2013 Limitada

Yeah I do. I have an e-cig and used it when I first got it, but haven't used it in a couple months, at least. I just enjoy smoking too goddamn much, argh.

I smoke, I plan on quitting again within a few years, as long as I quit before 30 health consequences are negligible.

Is it? Smoking lowers workplace productivity and it raises absenteeism. Those are both things a potential employer should be considering.

Those are both valid but we're more concerned with cancer. One coworker considers smokers to be actively committing assault with a deadly weapon or attempted murder. Extreme? Perhaps, but thought provoking.

I tried smoking many times but I was disillusioned each time. It doesn't make you high or anything. You don't feel anything other than a sore throat for the next 48 hours. I don't know why people smoke...
