Well it's time to upgrade the old ASUS P3B-F Celeron 566 and I can't seem to find any retailers that are still dealing with Coppermines. I still have the ASUS slotkit so setting a 1.80 voltage should be no problem.

So here I stand with cash in hand and I can't find a new (non Tualatin) 1.1Gb Celeron. Can you guys help?

They are still around, but seem to be going away. I just bought one (for a P3B-F) a couple weeks ago from Newegg. None there now. Check Pricewatch.com. Plenty of vendoes still list them.

OK

I got the 1.1gb cellery last night from mwave but now I can't get it to post. I tried adjusting the slotkit voltage settings to 1.75, 1.8 & default with no joy. The P3B-F has the latest official ASUS BIOS v6.

I tripple checked everything. Other than trying to re-seat the slotkit a couple hundred time what else should I do? This shouldn't be a big deal but it is.

I put the old 566 processor back in and it got into XP OK but it blue screaned when I tried to run a game.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Please help.

Consider a 900? They're all cdo steppings and two I had did 1200/133 on a BX mb with GW hs/fan.

Might have to go to the boards to find the non tualitans. Even getting harder to get 1.0A's now.

The ASUS Teck Rep is sending me the latest beta BIOS (v1008.004 I think).

I'll flash (pun intended) over the weekend and let you guys know how it turned out.

Oh BTW, This 1.1GB is a FCPGA Coppermine .18 PIII CPU. Not a Tualatin.

I'm pretty sure I've read on the Motherboard forum at 2CPU.com that some ASUS BX mobos have problems with the 11x multiplier, and that a bios fix is required. I recently bought a modded 1.0A Tualatin on an MSI slocket on the FS/FT forum, and it's running very stably at 1330 on a P3B-F.

hmsrolst,

Did you do your own mod or did someone else help you? Are there any more MSI's arround?

I understand MSI slockit's are the most stable.

I'm going to try my old ASUS and if it dosen't work I'm going to try ypur route.

I bought it already modded from jmsandrsn on the FS/FT forum. It looks like his threads have been locked with a message that he's a dealer now. Also you can get the latest P3B-F beta bios here, if you haven't gotten it yet. Sorry, the link doesn't seem to be working, but just go to the Asus site in Germany, look under support and drill down to the P3B-F.
