Mindless shooting FTL. RTCW is their only good game, and Grey Matter helped them out with it. They need to stop making engines and actually make games.

It's only mindless shooting if all you do is deathmatch on pubs. 1v1 and 4v4 tdm is the best.

Same. It's actually great practice for FPS manuevering and shooting in general. I usually play a few single player skirmishes of Q3 before a scrim in Wolf ET.

i used to be addicted to Q3 rocket arena and bought Q4 when it came out. played that for about 15 minutes and i dont think i even have it installed anymore.

Aye, maybe it's my age, but Quake 2 and the original UT are the only "classic" deathmatch/CTF FPSs for me.

I tried, but maybe I need to patch my game to version 43. I started checking it out, I have point release 1.32 installed, and I can do protocol 68 but maybe not 43.
I figured it out. I have a quake gold cd, and I downgraded to an earlier version.

Does Q3 still have that problem where if someone is using a custom character, you have to look at the sarge? I got really sick of playing on servers teeming with sarges.

So wrong, I LOVED Q2 Lithium with the grabble hook. The only people who thought it was lame were the ones who couldn't win; the best players were able to grabble and aim with the greatest of ease. The runes I didn't like as much but that's another story, I could go on for hours about Q2.

OMG Lithium was the gayest ever. Totally RUINED the gameplay. The runes sucked. I hated the grapple because everyone used it and camped with it and crap...it was just lame.

The reason it was so lame is that it basically added hacks so that people who couldn't normally control map resources would be able to be better at it.

I'm total old school I guess....straight, pure DM. No added gimmicks.
