RTCW sucked.

The stealth missions were very good and so were most of the normal Nazi missions. Only the boss fights and mech-Nazis sucked. The zombies were meh but weren't too bad aside from being boring.

The zombie part is where I stopped playing. I thought they were sort of ridiculous, I just wanted to fight Nazis.

They were pretty lame but it gets much better towards the middle. Assassinating Nazi officials and then entering libraries filled with dozens of Nazi ninjas FTW!

Quake 2 CTF w/ Grapple (Zoids?) was the best game I've ever played in my life. If people still played it I would install it and play.
God I miss that game and I'm not much of a gamer anymore.

omg....grapple was the most lame ****** in the ****** world.

So wrong, I LOVED Q2 Lithium with the grabble hook. The only people who thought it was lame were the ones who couldn't win; the best players were able to grabble and aim with the greatest of ease. The runes I didn't like as much but that's another story, I could go on for hours about Q2.

Lithium was pretty much all I played. The grapple was necessary for adding alot more vertical game play, and the runes were no big deal because everyone had access to them. And if you killed a guy with a rune, you got his rune and felt especially good. 😀

I'm sorry you didn't have the skill to rocket jump over someone and then rail them in the head while you are in mid-air.

I used to take people out in mid-air with hand-grenades. It's all a matter of timing and skill.

I bet you used to play that one weapons mod which turned everything into super powerful crap. The ones with the nukes that could be launched and just plain took anyone out.

I actually loved to go in and play that mod because I would use the shotgun (which was a "Freeze Gun" in that mod) and I would freeze someone in place so they couldn't move, wait until they came out of being frozen, and then shoot them again. Man they would get so pissed because they couldn't ever do anything.

Tribes anyone? 🙁

I was all into Tribes until Tribes 2 came out. My GPA was being screwed and I quit everything.

I was pretty good at Tribes too. Clocked a lot of hours.

*Sanrio*Pochaco 😛 don't ask, it was a gag name from some friends.

**EDIT**
I could do the mine throw hit with the disc launcher in the air trick with great great proficiency.

I still believe the quake series takes more skill than any other online fps. It's too bad Quake 4 was so weak, i was hoping to switch to that from counterstrike.

OMG Lithium was the gayest ever. Totally RUINED the gameplay. The runes sucked. I hated the grapple because everyone used it and camped with it and crap...it was just lame.

The reason it was so lame is that it basically added hacks so that people who couldn't normally control map resources would be able to be better at it.

I'm total old school I guess....straight, pure DM. No added gimmicks.

Yeah people did tend to overuse and abuse the grabble, but overtime it made them even more vunerable. The servers I played on had settings that didn't allow players to 'hang' on walls and ceilings for longer then 2 seconds, so camping wasn't a problem for them. Also, hooksky was turned off so morons couldn't just grabble the open sky and use them to propel themselves around the map.

I understand you being old school and not favoring the Lithium mod, but I really thought it made Q2 fun and interesting. Normal DM and mods like Rocket Arena were more of an original Quake thing to me, Q2 introduced me personally to Instagib, CTF, and Lithium. So from my perspective I choose to leave the normal DM days behind me with Q1 and had some fun while challenging myself with the new mods of Q2. Regardless, Quake (to me) is still the greatest FPS franchise hands-down.

Lithium was awesome. To this day the best mod ever. Copied many times, but there's nothing like the original.

I used to like custom sound files too - "Spoooon!!!".

I did all the mods for Q2, and have to say lithium + rail only PWNS ALL!

It may not be old school, but still takes alot of skill to play, especially with the insane speeds of lithium. Ah, that brings back good memories. Though it messed up my hand pretty bad. For years, I couldn't keep my hands steady while holding it in the air. I'm not much of a gamer now. Wish there were people still playing Q2. I'd join in a heartbeat.

Haha, absolutely! My rail obsession carried over to Instagib in Q3A, but I remember playing nothing but Rail-Only Lithium for a good year and a half, did the clan thing and kicked some ass eventually. I love how fast Q3A plays compared to Q2, but I miss things like the grabble and have to use rail jumping to conpensate for constant movement.
