Started playing again. Ah the memories. I realized why I quit in the first place. It was way too addictive.

Anyone up for some CTF?

Update:

In case anyone is interested, I usually get an hour or two in on this server:

70.85.241.52
Default port.

My handle is the same as my AT nick.

I was a fanatical Quake 2 player, but Q3 always rubbed me the wrong way. The whole thing, especially the guns, was too sci-fi for me, and I especially disliked the little "ding-ding" noise when you shot an opponent (as opposed to the grunts and screams in Q2).

I was playing Q2 back on a 24.6K dialup connection, with 400 pings, railing people left and right and getting kicked by stupid n00bs who said I was an "aimbot".

Aye, maybe it's my age, but Quake 2 and the original UT are the only "classic" deathmatch/CTF FPSs for me.

I remember playing Team Fortress as a mod for Quake 1. The engineer could build a turret, and the spy could disguise well (I can't remember the other classes too well)

Q2, CTF with offhand grapple killed all others, especially on a good server.

Q3 did get at me the wrong way also. I am a fan of singleplayer linear storylines, something Q3 missed from its predecessors.

Quake 2 CTF w/ Grapple (Zoids?) was the best game I've ever played in my life. If people still played it I would install it and play.
God I miss that game and I'm not much of a gamer anymore.

All the time, I'm a big InstaUnlagged fan and try to get a few maps in each night to keep my aim and reflexs sharp.

Never got into Q3, but Q2 and Q1 especially were my glory days of online gaming. I wonder if anyone is still even on those servers?

Last I bothered to look, they were developing a mod to have Q2 and Q1 run well on todays PC's

Although I probably read the website wrong, and haven't bothered to look it up since.
