I played 1.6 about 10 years ago. Started playing CS go about a year ago and I like it, but lost a little bit of interest lately. I only play match making now, which is 64 tick servers but I'm not a super serious player. I like watching the pro scene too... www.hltv.org if anyone is interested in the pro scene.

I just bought CS:GO during the recent Steam Daily sale ($3.75 US). I love it. Yes, yes, I'm one of those who fires up the team deathmatch but I gotta be me! I didn’t realize CS:GO had quick respawn DM mode until I read something about it a couple of months back – would’ve purchased it earlier! I never liked standard CS because of the round play (ie no auto-respawn - I realize that makes me no friend of the 1.6 crowd).

Switching gears a bit, I also play Day of Defeat Source - another Valve multiplayer game. Very fun. Also enjoyed the pre-Source version – much like CS 1.6, some folks think DoD Source cannot compare to the original but I like it just fine.

Day of Defeat robbed me of hundreds of hours back in the day... I played it more than I did CS, until 1.6 came out.

I start in Beta 6, played until 1.6 ... never played source, but I do play CSGO now, which is OK...just wish the comp servers weren't shit.

Just got back into this tonight with a buddy (CS 1.6). Oh my god the memories...except back when I played there was no voice chat. Turned that off right away

GS:GO is way better and more realistic... not to say about the graphics. But I've notice lots of players still play 1.6 ... I guess because it's free.

Nothing will ever beat the fun of gun running in beta 2. Screw money and reloading, I'll just pick up one of the 50 guns I am standing on. These rose colored glasses are giving me a headache.

I'm glad someone else remembers this. I loved CS beta 4, personally. with the cs_desert map, which was a ton of fun. I also loved running around in facility as a dead person and triggering the doors and elevator and freaking people out.

Facility was always the worst with the gun running on the long hallway with the door at the end..

I've played from 1.3 until 1.6 (more like 1.6 beta) I think.

last time I wanted to play the servers required so many anti cheat programs that I just didn't even try.

1.6 is the newest CS I own anyway, don't really care about it anymore,

Those old beta maps bring back fond memories. I always liked cs_siege, if you were lucky enough to afford an M4 you could shoot through the windows with impunity while all the pistol and mp5 noobs cowered in fear
