Ok, i'm taking German 101. My retard teacher has now asked us to write a whole bunch of crap. We have to write an ad looking for a roommate. We have to include some stuff about ourselves and our expecations of the roommate.

This has to be 400-500 words!!! I don't think i could write that much in english about such a retarded topic. How the hell am i supposed to write it in german when we haven't had any real written assignments?!?!

Arrrgh...foreign language teachers piss me off so much! :|:|:|:|:|:|

Can anyone help me out?

Yes, it is "in der Universitaet" but that is the dativ of "die". I speak German, but I too couldn't write 500 words on that.

It's a ridiculous topic/assignment. I'm just going to ignore that "expected" total.

Edit: what's that 9 all about?

toph99: babelfish is no good if you don't know what to write. :(:|

the '9' was instead of putting 'nein' or no ;)
Toolgirl was faster than me :p

you gotta learn how to bullsh!t. just type a bunch of stuff in english(shouldn't be too hard, i've had worse assignments) copy/paste into babelfish. i don't know if babel makes it gramerically correct, but i'll bet most of the people in your class will be using it :p

If you need to, use Babel, but make sure you correct it afterward. Otherwise you'll be found out. Every TA and teacher out there knows about babel now...not like when I was taking German. :)

Uh, yeah. And do you have any idea how much it would cost to run a fscking ad of that length?!! Not only do I find that an unrealistic assignment for a first year, first semester student, it has no bearing in reality.

A 400-500 word ad...for a roommate. LOL! :)

That's what I said - for that level of class that assignment is bull.
And most of those translation thingies butcher grammar. So often you're better off just typing the thing yourself.

This is the original request run through babelfish English->German, then translated again German->English :D Doesn't look too bad if you avoid all the slang expressions.

LOL you must use the same book I used to. We had to write about getting a roommate. It only had to be 300 words though. I just took my book and copied a lot of stuff down and put it together. We didn't do this until our third year of German. I guess in 101 it would suck.

Ok, i'm almost done with this thing. I'm pretty much around 400 words because I used up a crap load of space giving information about myself (everyone else in my class is doing the same thing).

Now i just need a few more characteristics/requirements about the roommate. I some basic stuff down, but i need some input from other people because i know i am missing some important stuff.

btw, have you written 400 words in English or German?

CrimsonWolf.....wie kannst du sagen das Duetsch slecht ist wenn wir Deutsch diskutieren?

<< Ich habe Duetsch eins. Duetsch ist dumm. Meine Duetschlehrerin ist eine Nazi. >>

Apparently you didn't learn much if you can't even spell "Deutsch" right. And calling any German person a Nazi just because you don't like them is not ok.
