Using Cheapfares.com, I found a roundtrip flight from LAX to Tokyo June 15th to July 18th for $685.70.
Using Greyhound.com, if you purchase a week in advance, you can get a one-way bus trip from Boston to Los Angeles leaving on June 11th for $119.00.

So, that will get you from Boston to LA to Tokyo and back to LA for $804.70.

Of course, if you want to make it back to Boston, you'll need to drop another bus fare of $119 or so... or hitchhike. ;)

With the way you worded your title, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone who read it interpreted it to mean $800 for all three. Adding "per person" at the end would help immensely.
