bought a G9 at a closing CC and the SD card will not stay down! Have reciept denoting sale of G9.

I'm out $ until it is up and going. Or should I sell as damaged for a low price?

I hate dealing with manufacturers!

To give you an idea, here's what the timeline was like for one of my DSLR repairs:

Sept. 18 - submitted a repair request on the Canon website, shipped DSLR to Canon New Jersey on the same day.
Sept. 24 - Canon sends me a repair estimate
Sept. 27 - Canon ships the repaired unit back to me
Sept. 29 - Receive repaired DSLR from Canon

I never sent a camera but I sent my 50mm f/1.4 lens back to Canon for repair. It took 2 weeks round trip. I live in NJ where the repair center is so that could also factor into the time.

I dropped off a lens for an IS motor replacement and it was ready the next day. I couldn't get there until the day after that. I think they make local folks a priority.

cannon repair is a joke in my experience..

I have a 350D that had a cracked lcd ( the small one in the rear ) so called canon and they said since it was not cracked outside,it was just the lcd itself, not the cover,so I pay $10 to send it in,they get it 3 days later and takes 9 days for them to send a email wanting $200 to repair it.........

:disgust:

So I tell canon to kiss my booty and send my camera back and when I got it back the eye piece cup was missing ...they sent a new one but ....not good .

So as I was cruising ebay for a lcd I found a local guy that does repairs and has a ebay store as well,so I call the guy he says gimme a bit to get a estimate and he comes back woith a quote of $35 parts / labor, ran down theere to his place and dropped it off at 5pm and picked it up the next day at noon.

He was doing a lens replacement on a G9 when I picked up my canon.

So would try him out,he ships all stuff priority.

darntoothysam.com is his site.

Generally positive experiences. I sent a f/1.4 lens in for repair (after dropping it on the floor!). It came back to me in one week. Then I sent in a S3-IS camera for replacement of the media door. It came back to me in 5 days. Much faster than expected. My 20D hit the deck once and broke the battery compartment door. I found the replacement part on the Internet, sent for it, and fixed it myself. That took a week to get the part. I give Canon a good rating.
