Anyone seen this hosting plan? 3.95/mth gives you 10GB space and 200GB transfer

that seems way to good to be true

i like my 800megs space / 120 GB bandwidth month for 9$ a year better

That's the company that redflagdeals.com uses, and they're like the biggest Canadian website out there. But then again, RFD *DOES* go down a lot, and sometimes they are to a crawl. Personally i wouldn't depend a business on it like RFD, but for your own personal forum or pr0n hosting, i think it's great.

Yea, but unfortunately it's not a reseller, so I would have no idea why a personal site would need this. Still, that's an insane price for just one account. Their resellers start at 49.99 tho.

Any talk of them on WHP?

What is a GOOD HIGH VOLUME and yet inexpensive host?

I love dixiesys for the speed and the reliability so I won;t be leaving them anytime soon, but am looking for a nice host for "files"

Based on price only - I would consider DreamHost

If you want a quality resellers account I would seriously consider SonataWeb.net

Reseller Plan #1
» HOST UNLIMITED DOMAINS
» Storage: 3000 MB's
» Transfer: 75,000 MB's
» cPanel/WHM Access
» Private Nameservers
» 18 cPanel Themes - RVSkins & XController Included. Sim Skins Coming SOON!
» Fantastico Auto Installer
» 30 Day Money Back Guarantee
» 99.8% Uptime Guarantee
» $12.95 a Month

Don't order until this Friday when their new GNAX server should be online and ready to go. That's when I'll be placing my order.

I remember when Canaca came out with this deal. I was very interested until I saw that there are no SQL databases included with the $3.95 plan. That makes it virtually useless, unless perhaps you want to run a simple personal website and a fairly large photo gallery using Gallery.

nice. I'll probably go with dream:thumbsup:

it seems good for me and i use it just to host files, it handles high load well and can serve fast as hell

only bad point is that their web interface is a pain, GIVE ME Cpanel or DA

Either way, I'll jsut stick to ftp😉

First, that's a company that will be relying on tons and TONS of overselling

I was with a company paying about 16 times that space/price ratio and even they oversold till the drive was full. They gave me 2.5GB space for $12/month, might have been $15/month or something, but at least ~16 times the price.

First, those hosts won't last. Second, do you honestly expect to get someone to help you when you need support most for $4/month?

Go to theplanet.com and look at the first server, just based on space, it's 80 cents per GB of space, that's assuming you can use all the space and not even keeping any aside for backups or the OS. 10GB of space is $8/month to them. Sure, you may think it doesn't matter because hosts oversell as it is, but think about how much they would have to oversell in order to attain a profit by offering so much space.

If you're willing to spend more, I'd go with RossMAN's suggestions or an account at idologic.com. If you don't want to pay that much, first decide how much space you will actually use, on average, many hosts find less then 10% of the space paid for is actually used. It's likely you'll end up needing much less. If you're interested, I can sell you a portion of my idologic.com account, PM me for more information, another ATer recently signed up with me. I've exchanged ~50 e-mails (50 sent/50 received) in the past few days, that's showing my dedication

I definitely agree with you, but in this case, I already have a reliable host.

I am just looking to help out with the AT hosting utilities as sometimes people are left with nothing. Such is the case with TopGear.

AgaBoogaBoo: while I agree with everything you said, i signed up with dreamhost anyway, for the sole reason of just hosting random sh!t, like anime and videos for the forums i visit, i can afford to waste 10$ on it, for 120GB a month of bandwidth to waste for a full year, it also takes it off my real site which IS hosted on The Planet, freeing up space and bandwidth there

for these reasons its not a bad idea IMO, but if your gonna host anything serious i would pass

Go ahead and waste that 120gb by hosting top gear. Actually I'd be very suprised if your account even lasted the whole month. But seriously, go ahead and host top gear on one of those accounts, you will be saving me the bandwidth costs 🙂
