Anyone seen The Lone Ranger movie?

The Movie's called the Last Samurai and it stars a fucking white person. While there technically was 1 known Caucasian Samurai, this movie isn't about him. And it seems, I dunno? Stupid to make a Samurai movie staring a white dude.

Have said before, will explain again: The plural of Samurai, is Samurai.

I guess they should have called it The Last Samuraises so that you would understand the title. It's about a group of people.

Women will see the movie because of Depp. I don't think there is another man on Earth that can get reactions out of women like Depp.

Brad Pitt. I know this chick who saw wwz and was mad because he didn't take his shirt off once. :screwy:

Hahah the people that don't know the Last Samurai is not showing Tom Cruise's char as a samurai. LoL! It is showing his character learning about the last samurai which is Watanabe's character.

As for the lone ranger it was garbage. Do not waste your money on it. Worse than the Man of Steel which was another garbage movie this summer.

He also has no clue that Cleopatra's lineage is Macedonian. Yep, white. They are the non-hairy Greeks.

How so? Specifics. Preferably not related to Johnny Depp.

Last review I posted with specifics I got jumped down on by many a fan boy for Man of Steel. But basically the movie is nothing but a Depp <inserts wanabe witty comment> making fun of Arnie Hammer all movie long. It gets old fast. There are a few moments, but nothing worth wasting money over.

I also saw Despicable Me 2 and World War this weekend as well. Both were MUCH better movies by far.

I will accept that Katsumoto could also be seen as the 'Last Samurai.'

Once he died, Tom Cruise's character was the closest thing, seeing as he came to live among them and train in their ways and whatnot. And I guess he boned the wife of that dude that he killed (and stole his armor).

But I still think the title is an overall reference to that group of people.

Essentially, anyone who mocks that movie for titular reasons is stupid three times.

fyi depp is part indian, his backing is what got the film greenlit.

primarily the movie is captain jack sparrow in a western until the 5th pirates can start filming.

and cleopatra is a mixed bowl so to speak. there have been african queens in different eras with the name cleopatra. the famous one however was part of the Ptolemy lineage/macedonian so yes white.

I love it when a film that spends a ridiculous amount of money on advertising; completely bombarding everyone with trailers/commercials/merchandise/fast food tie-ins for 8 months before the movie comes out and then falls flat on it's face at the box office. Just excellent. Plus I hate Johnny Depp. So glad it flopped 🙂

you are insane, after watching the movie, i though cruise was perfect for the role, he was shown as an outcast who later learned the traditional ways of honor, fight and sacrifice of a samurai. It was very well done period

I'm also surprised that no one used a wiki link to enlighten Mr Troll... ahh Quebert to his erroneous thoughts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleopatra

Yep. Cleopatra is a white woman as the whites came to rule Egypt later. She was the last pharaoh and portrayed herself as the living embodiment of Isis.

Per wiki, Depp never verified that he had Indian blood. Seems the Indian tribes have records to verify their ancestry:

"Controversy arose over both the adoption and Depp's portrayal of a Native American character,[86] as Depp was not raised in, nor has confirmable ancestry from, a Native American community, though he has said he "guesses" he may have some distant Cherokee or Creek ancestry.[9] Commentators have wondered why he has not verified his Native American ancestry with the Cherokee or any tribe when the information is easily available.[88"

"Samurai" is both the singular and plural form of the word. The title may as well be "The Last Group of Samurai, Including One White Guy Who Is Fighting With Them Because Reasons."

EDIT: Oh and from what I've read, most people "offended" by Tonto are guilt-ridden white people who feel obligated to get offended by proxy. There are plenty of Native Americans who are not offended by it (I'm sure some are as well, of course), and some even said his bird hat is partly authentic.

I haven't seen it yet but will.
What gets me is how anyone can have complaints with the format because its not following the original ranger classics from, what, the 1950's 40's?
I know a guy that was tremendously upset that Depp's Dark Shadows was not serious but satire.
Duh.
What did people expect, considering Depp and his past collaborations with Tim Burton.
They, he likes making fun movies, or dark, or a mix of the two.
But serious? Not his style.

Two of us stated that earlier. Not Wiki Linked, but we pointed out she was white and QueBert is forever known as a moron.

Speaking of which.. isn't most Egyptians Caucasian decent anyhow? Yes it is in Africa, but it's closer to the middle east.

I did on Sunday and it was ok, not great but not horribe, just slighly average. I gave it a score of 6/10 in the big movie thread.

As I said, the director and producers were trying to make this as another Pirates of the Caribbean but on land. It did not work. And I do not know how they spent over $200 million USD to make this movie.

Could not pay me to go see it... looks like one of the worse movies in years.

It should also be renamed to Tonto and his sidekick the Lone Ranger

The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie was pretty good. The sequels went from bad to worse. Doesn't surprise me that another attempt would pick up where the later movies left off rather than recapturing the magic of the original.
