I bought a nec/mitsubishi 1850x for my brother-in-law overseas and tested it out. It absolutely blew me away! The colors were so bright and beautiful, I used it for a week with autocad, photoshop, and loved it. The only problem is that the screen did not pivot front to back. I read an ergonomics study on the web that says monitors lower than eye level were better, I tried it for a week and am a beleiver, less eyestrain and less dry eyes than the old top to eye level rule. Has anyone used the nex 2010x?, they have refurbs at tiger direct for a grand, normally around 1700.
I just tried out two sony sd-s81 lcd's bought from best buy and liked them a lot, analog only though, so I took em back. BTW best buy has a zero pixel replacement policy for their extended warranty, $50.00. After amex pming and rebates, they would have been a little over 800.00 each. The sonys have low bases and as discussed above helps eye dryness.
I am now using a dell 1900fp and although the bezel is slim silver (its a samsung rebadge), the monitor screen white balance looks brownish and a little more dull than the sonys. The dell base stand positions them higher than the sonys.
I compared the dell with the sony side by side in a dual monitor setup. I would have liked to do the same with the nec. The sonys did have a nice image. I am searching for a better monitor deal 18-20", and need two.
Any thoughts on the above would be appreciated.:Q
