Anyone seen atonement?

I read the book in high school. Briony was a bitch. I actually enjoyed it (the book, not the bitchiness).

If the movie is anything like the book it should have a fair amount of sex scenes and war scenes to satisfy the typical manly man.

Excellent movie. Topic Summary suggests this is a sappy chick-flick set in war times. Trust me - this is nothing like Cold Mountain (although I enjoyed that movie as well) or Pearl Harbor (I did love the actions bits). It's pretty intense and very well shot & directed, with some truly postcard-worthy picturesque vistas. Very well acted and it has a 5-minute-long tracking scene that will go down as one of the most memorable shots ever. Right up there with the ones from 'Children of Men' in terms of wow-factor.

Knightley looks stunning and makes you wonder how much more awesome she would look if she could add a little meat on her bones.

I saw it as part of a subsidized house trip ($4 to see a normally $9.00 movie). Not the typical movie that I would watch, but I certainly enjoyed it. I'd recommend seeing it.

I'm turning in my man card for saying this but... I liked the English Patient, is it like that?

I really liked it...was incredibly sad though.

It is a love story, yes.

But an amazingly well done one.

I expected a chick flick- it isn't.

It's got great writing, acting, and visual aesthetics. I'm a little biased in that I'll sit through anything with Keira Knightley in it, but yeah- if you like good movies and can enjoy a period drama, you'll enjoy it.

I liked it OK. I enjoy period dramas, but this one was a bit disjointed at times. I didn't mind the ending though. And yes, Briony is a bitch.

The English Patient was great - lots of sex and a mind-bending plot. Haven't seen Atonement, though.
