Anyone seen AMDZone's website? Apple and AMD?

AMDZone
There was a lot of talk around the media people about Apple's presence at Comdex this year. In the Comdex press briefing we were told that Hector Ruiz would be announcing "shattering" news about a new licensee. As much as Dell would be a shocker to the public, the shattering news would be Apple moving to the x86 platform.

This would explain why AMD has delayed the processor so that Apple could ready their OS for the x86. Readers have commented about OS X support from companies such as Adobe and Macromedia. Yet just this week, Macromedia announced their support for the newest Apple OS.

This may be the end-all-and-be-all of COMDEXs!!! NV30, Granite Bay, and Apple's transformation to x86!!! An industry shake up may just be what the doctor ordered!

Edit: Hello, WinTel...Meet AMple!!!

just what AMD needs for hammer, some of Apple's "coolness"; wonder if it will be a Hammer Mod of some sort or if apple's just gonna stop making their own everything and start competing in the PC market

Yeah, finally getting exciting for me again with all the new technology coming out or just released. From ATi 9700 to NV30, P4 is making me want it now :) with Granite Bay....

Yeah, it was last week..... and the one before that was IBM.... but I felt it would have been either IBM or AMD getting this. If that is Apple makes "The Switch" :)

I wonder if anyone will make a commerical about Apple making the switch?

Apple will stay where they are. They'll charge premium for their stuff because they can. Trust me on this one...they aren't moving anywhere. If anything they're just gonna use some technology from AMD like the idea of embedded Memory controller in the CPU or something. They aren't buying AMD's CPU.

Apple doesn't want to lose it's image as the ease of use and setup computer. If they migrate to a more PC standpoint they will be moving backwards from their ad campaign currently running. They'll be making the Mac more like a PC which is exactly what they're trying to say is the wrong way to go.

I thought most of their "Swith" commercials were based on the ease of use between OSx and their hardware. If Apple were to make their Hammer computers the same style as their current Power PC's, then I don't see why their image of ease of use would be lost.

I don't see how it's backwards. I think those ads (as stupid as they are, and I don't think I can think of anything more stupid than the parodies people come up with based on those ads) are more against Windows than X86. They've already made moves to use more PC standards to improve sales. This would push them forward and throw another player into the X86 OS competition. I think it would be good if any of this happens, though I've never really liked Apple. I'll hold off getting any hopes up as it's all speculation. Later.

Another dark and ruthless attempt by Apple to spread confusion among the ranks of PC hardware and software makers

If that is true then I wonder what "shattering" news AMD is going to have on Tuesday?

Haha, talk about WAY WAY off. AMD does not have a deal with Apple. The "shattering" news wasnt that shattering. Just a medium sized deal with Northwest Utilities to supply them tens of thousands of Clawhammers.AMD

I hope this is true. Its great news for competition, bringing OSX to x86 provides much stiffer competition to windows, because the processor compatibility is all thats stopping PC users from using OSX. Everything else is pretty much the same as a PC.

I'll dual boot OSX and Windows any day.

OS X on X86 was never a viable rumour at this Comdex. It was just started because AMD said there was a big announcement and a bunch of Apple guys were at Comdex. Big deal.

Apple would never switch processor platforms in the middle of a huge OS switch.
The next processor for Apple will be the IBM PowerPC 970. It's pretty much a lock, unless Motorola manages to pull off a miracle and make some significantly faster processors.
