Anyone see this before?

oucchhh

I dont know if I would have my toe put on in place of my thumb....that just looked creepy

I used to have a moray, it bit me about three times. Of course it wasn't a massive green moray, it was a 2 foot black edge moray. Still hurt though, but it was just puncture wounds.

Did he take hot dogs whole? (I have a reef tank as well).

As an avid diver, I give big morays a ton of respect. They're wild animals and you are in their world. Dangling/feeding hotdogs (gee, same size/shape/color as a human digit?).

Those guys are nothing but mouth and teeth. Those divers brought that event upon themselves.

Nah, no hot dogs. He always got either silversides, whole cubes of formula one or marine cuisine, or fresh shrimp. I miss having an eel, but an eel would eat all my small reef-safe fish. Maybe one day I can setup a predator tank.

Yeah, but put yourself in the moray's point of view...

Hmmm, these super tasty hotdogs are great! I'm going to go out of my happy hole and actively hunt and feed! This way outside my normal behavior, but man! I'm really hungry!

WTF! These guys are screwing with me....I want my HOTDOG!

*sniff* *sniff*
Yeah! Food!

Oh look! Hotdoggy looking thing!

*CRACK*
*MUNCH*

-edit-
on the reef tank thing, I wouldn't let an eel anywhere near my tank. Sure they are cool, but they are voracious predators.

Yeah in hindsite I am sure the diver realized he made a mistake. However; it's these risks one takes in life that are sometimes rewarding. I would have definitely taken a toe replacement for a thumb. The difference in a fully usable hand and just having an animal paw. Mobility of the foot was probably within 90% of normal. Losing one's big toe is really bad though if that happens.

I just wonder if he has good nerve function. Muscle function is one thing, but often the limb can be fully/partially numb.

Plus morays have really really bad eyesight. They will take a crack at any fleshy thing that gets in their way when they are hungry, or anything that smells like food for that matter. Mine would bite an empty feeding stick if it even smelled like food.

Feeding, touching or getting near a green moray is never a good idea.

Nope. Never is. I leave them the F alone in the ocean. Same respect as I give a reef shark. Leave them alone.

Is this the thumb one?

Don't mess with moray's. Bad mojo.

I'm willing to bet it is. Old as hell, but still funky everytime I watch it. We never get as close as those guys do when we're diving.
