My god that game looks good! Doom 3 looks great too but the HL2 gameplay has far more potential. The massive outdoor scenes, vehicles, insane physics... HL2 just oozes with style.

I am going to watch that gem again...

No, but I really want to. Unfortunately I do not have a file planet account :(

btw, does the 500MB video have any different footage then the other 8 movies that have been floating around?

Yes there is ALOT more footage than the other movies. The video is about 20-25 minutes long and the first 5-10 minutes shows off all the technology/physics advancements and the rest of the video shows in -game footage of about 5-6 different areas in the game. Some of this includes:

- fighting with allies through the rubble of a city street
- using an alien object to control giant bugs and have them fight for you
- a huge outdoor scene driving a Vehicle while a ship is chasing you firing from the air

Its damn good stuff!!!

If memory serves me right, I was able to do all those things in original Red Faction, and then some

If the HL2 engine can truly deliver what we see in the videos, then Red Faction was nothing compared to HL2.

There are lots of mirrors of it... check ATOT... or Hardocp. I downloaded it on Friday from Hardocp games forum (there were like 7 mirrors there alone)

I saw the movie yesterday. The new engine is really nice. Hopefully they can bring the great plot from the first HL over too...

good point. everyone is drooling over graphics, but its not graphics that made the first HL a great game.

I saw the footage outside with the 3-stories-high bad guy DUCKING under something to move towards Freeman as buildings are collapsing, people are running, shooting, screaming. Valve really knows how to immerse you in the game. Just amazing. Can't wait to play it.

Indeed it is. From the looks of it, they have the potential set up for a great story. I hope they come through on this department.

Wow - the video was amazing. The interactivity was just stunning in my opinion. You could shoot up objects on a desk or rip letters from a marquee and hurl them at enemies. Also, the AI looked pretty advanced to the point where you could actually rely on them to do the right thing. I know I will get it! No Doom3!;)
