So the fictional President "Mac" is in Florida viewing hurricane damage and has taken the time to sit with a group of kids and read to them from a book (a la bush on 9-11).
An important issue comes to the attention of her staff of an oil tanker in danger of breaking up off the Florida coast and is bigger than the Exxon Valdez.
The whisper there is an urgent problem into Mac's ear and she asks the kids who would like to continue reading the book and gives it to one who raises their hand. She then excuses herself to do the duties of her office.
Went by real quick but it was exactly what I would have hoped Bush would have done on 9-11 instead of staring like a deer in the headlights for 7 minutes.

The West Wing has been doing several '04 election issues in the election there. (p.s. go Hawkeye! ;))

As usual everything is so simple in the movies.
And they hope people actually believe it, which obviously they do.

I guess it is too much to expect that in the nuclear age when a sub launched missle could hit the eastern seabord in under 15 minutes that the President respond promptly to the words, "America is under attack" not waste half that time deciding if he should find out more info.

Oh I must missed it when a Nuclear Missile was airborne from a sub in the Atlantic. Is this also part of your alternate reality?

btw I would enjoy a realistic episode of C&C where Geena Davis finds out about your scenario and does what Geena Davis would do in real life, shat herself.

On 9/11, Bush made leaving the classroom a lot stupider and unprofessional than it needed to be.

And you would know this why?
When were you president?

In his alter reality he has a time machine so everything he does it perfect because he has the benefit of hindsight.

Everyone's seen the footage of Bush looking like a deer in headlights. Its obvious to anyone who isn't a partisan hack that Bush should have been out of his seat the moment he heard we were under attack.

Based on what? Since when are you an expert on security?
What did you want him to do? Run out screaming "We are under attack?"

Again you are letting Hollywood melt your mind with idiotic images.

Not sure how she got this part too be honest. Transylvania 6-5000 and Bettlejuice. What the hell else has she done in the past 20 years?

How are the ratings on that show anyways?

He was told that America was under attack. He should have immediately gotten up, politely excused himself, and headed to his limo. Very easy. The President's priority is the United States as a whole, not reading books to children. (Although it was good to see Bush read... I didn't think he could for the longest time.)

So news footage is hollywood garbage? I suppose it has to be on FoxNews before you'll buy it.

I saw the episode, but assumed that it had been filmed before Katrina.

don't most network dramas film their fall half-season during the summer, and their spring season during the fall/winter?

"I don't think anybody could have predicted that...they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile," said National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice." -CBS (05/17/02)

"You hate to admit it, but we hadn't thought about this," Air Force Gen. Richard Myers said. -DoD (10/23/01)

"What's disturbing about it to me is, you think as a fiction writer that if you can imagine this scenario, then the people in power in the government who are there to imagine disaster scenarios can imagine it, too." - Frank Spotnitz, Co-Producer of The Lone Gunmen

"In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba." -ABC (5/01/01)

The FOX TV series The Lone Gunmen (X-Files spin off) airs their opening episode "Pilot" six months before 9/11 which depicts a secret U.S. government agency behind a plot to crash a Boeing 727 into the WTC via remote control and blame it on foreign terrorists in the hopes of generating a bigger military budget.

Why didn't that media pick up on this bizarre coincidence of life imitating art? A Boeing 700 series commercial airliner about to crash into the WTC and being blamed on foreign terrorists shown just six months before the real thing happened on a major TV station? I mean come on?!!

The real irony is that a lot of conspiracy investigators think that this scenario is essentially what really happened on 9/11!

It is just BIZarre... I still do not know exactly what to believe.. that is all I will say

Like I have been asking, you know this is easy why?

If they know multiple planes have been hijacked, what makes you think at that time they dont have people outside the very school Bush is at waiting for him to leave? Obviously there is a high level of coordination and sophistication involved by the attackers.

You dont think for a second the Secret Service would have wanted to make sure they had a clear escape route to Air Force One before sending the President out into the open do you?

Nah that isnt Hollywood enough, Bush should have ran out of there and into a possible line of fire.

How do you know he didn't have someone help him memorize the book?
