Vanessa White, 33, of Somerville, Mass., also heard about the event through Facebook and showed up with the Boston event dressed in a pink jacket and fishnet stockings.

“For me ... it’s an attempt to reclaim the word ‘slut’ itself,” said White. “Because once you reclaim it, you take the power away from it.”

Before the march, a small group of counter protesters, wearing colorful cowboy hats with feathers and holding a boom box that played hip-hop and 1970s funk, walked around the gathering. Dubbed the “PimpWalk,” organizer Samuel Bilowski, 23, of Salem, N.H., said his group wanted to “get some numbers” and talk to attractive women.

“This is a pathetic attempt at a joke,” admitted Bilowski. “We’re just having fun.”

Still, White and a group of other advocates surrounded Bilowski and his group and yelled the word “slut” repeatedly. Others verbally attacked Bilowski for glorifying violence against women.

Bilowski’s group eventually joined the SlutWalk march around the Common.

Following Boston, SlutWalk marches are planned in cities including Seattle; New York; Chicago; Philadelphia; Reno, Nev.; and Austin, Texas.
absolutely priceless!

Women are more than welcome to draw attention to themselves. They just have to realize it might not be the attention they want. Not saying they deserve something because of it, however they should realize that shit can happen because of it.

If you dress like a thug, expect to be treated as such. If you dress like a slut, expect to be treated as such. It's not rocket science people.

I can just imagine seeing a large group of guys repeatedly shouting "slut!" while pumping their arms in the air.

As expected, it's only the obese, fugly, emo looking or just plain stupid women that participate in these types of public events.

If you post like an idiot, expect to be treated as such. How about treating people like humans?

If you go to an interview in sweats and a t-shirt expect to be not taken seriously as someone who is dressed well. The way we look and present ourselves is the first impression people get. It's just how it is. If you don't understand that then I'm sorry and it's not fair, of course it's not, but that's just how it is, life isn't fair.

Did they import females from the Pacific North West to participate in that walk or what?

Or, women from the North East are as equally ugly?

/shudders...
