It was most saddening, the Taliban seems merciless and ruthful. What a sad state Afghanistan is in...

I've watched it in it's entirety twice and I still can't get over some of those absolutley haunting images of those people trying to pick up the dead bodies of those slaughtered by the Taliban, and those three young girls crying for weeks after their mother was killed and they were raped for several days on end. It is hard to imagine people living like this day to day and having no respect for human life.

...and yet we have people in this country that do not want us to beat the living piss out of the Taliban. IMHO, we should have ousted the Taliban before this, but then that was not a priority with the previous administration.

It's not that easy... teh US just can't go into countries that they deem aren't good and 'free' them. That's one of the reasons why it took the US so long to get involved in Bosnia... it was a domestic matter, and if the Europeans didn't care what was going on in their own backyard, why should the US.
But now that there is a good reason to take out the Taliban, this is a good enough time as ever to do it. That's why who cares if they hand over Bin Laden or not... if they don't, they get to die (the Taliban, not the Afghanistans)... if they do, they get to live in a prison somewhere. In either case, it's time to end the Talibans.

Well then,why did this admistration give $10 million in cash to the Taliban this last May (along with over $100 more humanitarian aid this year)? Didn't we know about them before the CNN special?
We could support the Northern alliance. But isnt the US choosing the governments of Arab nations what got us into this in the first place?

It just as sad as seeing those people died in wtc, it horrible. We need to kill them quick and fast too
so this cruelness don't continue. It look's more like a work of the devil and the ideas is to inflict as much pain as possible but also very gruesome as well.

I keep trying to record it on my TIVO, unfortunately, my local listings on the TIVO channel guide are never correct and don't match up with what is actually being shown.
Anyway, the abuse over there is horrific to say the least. The treatment of women is deplorable.
Saw this article about a Pakistani man that burned his wife's face off with acid. I guess from the article it can be a common threat that men use to keep their wives under control.
In Urdu, they call it tez ab, or sharp water. Acid, nitric or hydrochloric, has long been the weapon of retribution for Pakistani men against disloyal, disobedient or overly determined women. One reason is that acid is cheap and readily available. Another: surviving an acid attack is often worse than dying.
