I have a slot 1 p3 700 no cbo or e. Its got a alpha hs on it and it hits 1008 at 1.65. But its a lot more stable at 1.7.

See specs below...man am I happy with this chip/MB. I am just now discovering that 1050 is not 100% stable (Q3 loops crash after about 6 hours), i've lowered it down to 1015 and tweaked some memory settings to actually get better performance and ROCK SOLID. Yes I'm using an alpha, is there really any other choice?

I've been running my 650 at 1014MHz with 1.8V on a 156MHz bus for a while now. This is on a MSI i815E Pro and HSDRAM at 156MHz 3-2-2.

It will boot at 1040MHz with a 160MHz bus, but it will only last for about 30 minutes.

I'm sure this has been asked many times, how do you figure out the week? I haven't opened the box yet. Is it on the outside?

yes it is...

It's the FPO/Batch #, i.e., L020A344.

Mine's at 966 default right now. Haven't tried higher.

Insomniac, what's your batch #?

Sweet!

Good luck. Should I order another one? For what? I dunno, maybe for a future dual rig?

What do you think?

I'm doing it right now!

1000MHz at default voltage and cruncing RC5! I'm getting another chip, hope I get the same one!

MoneyMINTR: What type of RAM? That Alpha in your sig. is for the HS/fan right? What week is it? I hope mine is as good!

I can tell you one thing...is the P3 crippled in someway? I never knew a 1 GHz Athlon smoked a P3 that bad in Sandra. Also, the Duron 700 almost has the same amount of memory bandwidth. Does anyone else find that to be weird?

Remember those are just synthetic benchmarks.

You have to check out the real world tests. i.e., Quake demos, and all of the other stuff.

I ordered and received my P3-700 from Googlegear last Friday. It is a SL45Y, stepping cB0, retail boxed unit. It runs rock stable at 945 MHz at default voltage 1.65 volts. At 966 MHz, it loads Windows 2000 Prof, but has occasional blue screen. I have not completed testing at higher voltage yet.

I use Asus P3V4X and Apacer/Infineon SDRAM, at 3-2-2-5.

I was very happy until I read this thread seeing so many people running 1 GHz at default voltage. I can't say that I am not happy, just NOT very happy. I wonder whether the SDRAM is the limitation at this time.

thermite88,

Be happy with your chip. Trust me, I've gone through approximately 10 chips and this is the only batch that I've got to 1000MHz at default. There aren't many people that can get 1GHz @ 1.65v. Maybe just a handful. Second, 945 @ 1.65v is the second best that I've heard of. My 2nd best chip was a 933 @ 1.65v.

With proper cooling you should do 1GHz @ 1.75 no probs. That's still very very good!

BTW, for those of you who are upset that the P3 1GHz benchmarks are lower than the 1GHz T-birds, then check out this firingsquad article.

Also, does anyone here have any inside information on when the CUSL2 will be in stock at Ingram Micro? I'm still waiting on that thing.

Good luck waiting... Forget the artic circle, get an Alpha. I've got an Alpha FC-PAL35T if you want one cheap. $23 shipped.

right now I'm running on a system that is a celeron 466 running at 700, I would opt to get the 700 and try my luck at overclocking it to 1Ghz, but I can't afford the ram (I'm low on money). Does anybody think If wait 2 weeks for my next paycheck that my odds of getting one that will do 1Ghz will go up, or do you think it was an unusual batch of CPU's hat came out then.
