I see Oracle has announced EOL for OpenSolaris in 2013... seems like an excellent time to get on board. :D

All my hardware is on the CS so I'm going to install it today.

I run a few machines on SolarisExpress. But for me, it seems like the time to switch away.

Yea, I didn't like it before and I'm sure Oracle's ownership will only make things worse...

So far so good. GNOME is of course familiar. My wireless NIC doesn't work though. Hoping to get it working today.

Yea, the software on top is going to be 90% the same as a Linux distro. The only major differences will be the kernel (and things like ZFS and dtrace, obviously) and the base userland won't be GNU.

True, but that doesn't look like it'll be happening any time soon. They're just going to tighten control over the source code and do their best to rape existing Sun customers.
