Anyone running a Epox 8K5A2 mobo at 200+fsb or higher?

I know it's a bit old but I'm using one with my xp 1600. When I hit 200 the 1/6 divider does'nt kick in and the pci bus hits 40 and keeps climbing past 200fsb.

I know my 1600 can't go that high but I have a Sempron2200 in an ECS board that runs up to 195fsb on default volt.I tried the Sempron in my Epox but I never tried to go over 200 hundred because in the bios it shows the pci bus hitting 40 when I reach 200fsb.

Hi I have the Epox 8k5a2+ which is the same board but has RAID on it as well.

Anyway, the board is a kt333 board so you're right, the PCi/AGP bus should continue to climb once you hit 200mhz fsb. In other words, there is no 1/6 PCi divisor. There is also no way to lock the pci/agp bus speed at 33/66mhz. So basically you're lucky if you can run at 200mhz fsb since your agp/pci are at 80/40mhz. Anything higher and you're pushing your agp card and pci cards quite a bit.

The max I hit successfully was around 205mhz fsb and at that speed my video card gave all these funny characters in the bios. Increasing the vdimm helped, but not sure why as I had pc3200 ram in it.

Around 205mhz I started getting prime95 errors for one reason or another...my guess is the chipset, but could be anything with a pci/agp of 41/81.

If you really want to go past 200mhz w/o being held back by your pci cards or your agp cards, I'd get a mobo where you can lock the agp/pci bus. most of the nforce2 boards allow that, but not all.

Thanks, that what I needed to know. Some one with the same board had posted a while back that he was at 200fsb but he just pm'd saying basicaly the same thing as you did. So this board will do just fine with my xp 1600 @173fsb

I have a new nforce board and an mobile xp on the way, so I can give the Sempy a spin on that one to see how high it will go.

173mhz fsb is a breeze and i think almost any board could do that.

What nforce2 board did you buy? I'm looking for one too? Also what sempron u got?

I replied on your mobo thread but I got the Shuttle AN35N Ultra400, the Sempron is a 2200(1500mhz) it came in a Fry's mobo cpu combo deal. I bought the Shuttle with an XP-M 2400 but I'd also like to see just how high the sempron can go. Like I said above it does 195fsb on default voltage so I'm thinking it might hit close to 9x225fsb= 2025mhz, I really haven't seen any OC results on Semprons so it will be intresting.

you know the shuttle boards max out their vdimm at 2.7v. YOu'll need some high quality ram if you want to go to 225mhz fsb w/o a voltage on vdimm higher than 2.7v.

I know, I was the one who posted the vdimm voltage limit on the shuttle mobo in your thread. I just needed a cheap overclocker to play around with if I don't make it to 225 I'm fine with that.

Sorry about being so clueless, didn't even realize you had posted in my other thread.
