Im looking forward to an upgrade in the near future and Ive done quite a bit of work on this but Im torn between 2x256mb + something else and 2x512mb.

Im going to be overclocking and 200mhz sync is my aim.

I only need experiences with 1 Gb and 512mb RAM in DC and SC modes. No criticising my board or CPU, as if any of you would even bother :D

Ive selected TwinMOS Winbond PC3200 because Ive heard good success stories on the net about it and damn its cheap. £60 for 2x256mb and £120 for 2x512mb. Id also be using an ABIT NF7-S Revision 2.0 and an XP1700+ DLT3C JIUHB.

Whats the chances of being able to hit 200mhz sync with 512mb and 1 Gb in DC or SC?

I'll say that you should be able to do it as long as u keep your temps down

I'm running a 1700+ 0310 at 200x11.5 @1.675 with 2 X 512 Kingston Hyper-X 3000 at 400 on a 8RDA+ and everything is working fine for me.

But YMMV.

I've been running my XP2500 @ 221x10 @ 1.750 volts with 1 GB of PC2700 RAM... however, I recently switched to 200x11 because benchmarks scores are better... I'm guessing because the FSB is closer to running in sync with the RAM since I have to lock the RAM at 166 Mhz.

Thanks for the replies.... Seems as though this guy is going for 1Gb unless something else catches my eye.

I'm running a 2100+ at 200x12 (1.8v), Corsair twinx1024-3200LLPT, on an A1 8RDA+

I can run 200Mhz Sync (w/ one 512MB stick, SC) @ 2-5-2-2 2.5v

In order to do the same frequency and timings (w/ two 512MB sticks, DC), I need to bump up the voltage to 2.7v.

So where can you buy twinmos winbond RAM (in the US)? Newegg doesn't seem to have it, or am I missing something? And is it the best bang for your buck? I was thinking about getting Geil. I want to be able run it at least 200-225MHz at the most aggressive timings possible without spending a small fortune.

PC3500 HyperX 2x512 215x10.5 Epox 8RDA+ The only thing I can't do is run the ram in dual channel. Max I can do is 190x11.5 with dual.

With my previous (now sold) 8RDA+, I was able to run 200FSB with 2x Corsair 512mb PC3200 running sync and in dual channel mode. No problem at all even though I used two different model of corsair.

I'm running 2x256MB Corsair twinx512-2700LLPT on asus a7n8x deluxe (a2/1.04 revision) running at 200x11 at home. This is also in dual channel, no mods to the board, timings relaxed from cas2-2-2-5 to cas2.5-3-3-7. I would guess 166x12.5 is better since it is running cas 2, but I like to brag about 200 FSB :p
