Anyone run an ADP, Reynolds & Reynolds, or similar type of setup at work?

So I'm the in house computer guy for a group of auto dealerships (Acura, VW, Suzuki, International Trucks). Right now we currently run ADP (ADP) for our major departments of the dealerships which includes parts, service, accounting, F&I etc. My frustration with this setup has pretty much reached the boiling point. The hardware that they make us use is outdated and breaks down frequently. Their service has gone downhill since they opened up call centers in India (which is a shame because it was actually quite good up until a year ago), and their software/user interface is by no means user friendly and extremely difficult for new employees to learn. Oh and I forgot to mention I almost sh!t my pants when accounting showed me what we're paying them each month. The bottom line is that I'm convinced there must be a better solution out there, so a few questions...

1. Any of you have experience with any of these types of networks, and if so how do you feel about them?
2. Have any of you switched from one to another and if so which is better and why?

The sad part is that the dealships require us to run a certain type of network. We have to choose from a limited list and I believe last time I checked ADP was the only one that was on the list of all the dealerships so I might not have a choice...:|

My co-worker quit 3 weeks ago and he dealt with all the ADP payroll crap. before he left he spent a day going over how it works, what to do if something breaks and of course show me how much we pay them a month for that support.

So far nothing has broke yet... and since its payroll im very very nervous about this whole setup.

I have worked on both ADP & R&R and I can say that you summed it up pretty well.

I also worked at Ford Motor Company on several IT projects and suggested Ford make their own dealer management software.

We have 165 employees in this one location. Been using ADP for years for payroll. No problems.

I also forgot mention that any links to software that you feel could do a better job would be greatly appreciated. I'm almost tempted to hire a programmer to write something from scratch. I start doing it myself if I had the time. Hell, even if we had to pay the programmer $25,000 it would still pay for itself after a few months at this damn rate...
