Anyone RMA'd to AMD before?

I was wondering what people's success rate...or turn around time has been when doing an RMA with AMD. I'm debating sending back my retail 2500+ cuz I had an electrical shock to my PC; just got my board back...so if the cpu STILL works now, it will possibly die in a few months or so, so i figured i should just get it over with.

I have however brought it up to 3200+ speeds before, but at the time of the shock, it was running at stock. Will AMD be able to tell, and thus void my warranty?

thanks

I have shipped a cpu back to amd before, it went fine. I don't think the turnaround time was bad. If the cpu still works there really isn't any reason to send it back though. AMD will not be able to tell it was overclocked, but that does void your warranty.

Be a man, not a scumbag, take responsibility for your actions and eat it if the CPU is nuked. You overclocked and voided the warranty, period. If you decide to be a scumbag about it I hope the wheel of karma spins 'round and kicks you in the nads! If you take responsibility I hope it brings good things back to you :)

wow, a scumbag for considering RMAing a overclocked cpu. strong words. ;)

If I were you jorwex, I'd test the cpu first. If it works, then live with it as-is and hope that it doesn't die. If not, then it's totally up to you if you want to try to rma it or not. dapunisher is right though, you took the risk and voided your warranty.

even tho that isnt the reason it posssibly is dead? i tried it for maybe 15 minutes and then decided OCing wasnt worth the risk..and that was like 6 months ago...1 month after i got my system up and running fine. i understand, but i feel that it's my duty as a cheap bastard to take the options that are given to me if it saves $$...but yea..i understand.

thanks

rea he heallly.

on a related matter, I heard that if they test the CPU and find it working, they ship it back to you. So, I guess I'll keep it till it really does malfunction (assuming that'll happen sometime down the line). actually i havent put my pc back together since i got my board back from newegg, so it might work/notwork..
