I see babies cry, I watch them grow... they'll learn much more than I'll ever know.

It's from 'It's a wonderful world' and I don't think it's offensive in the song... as written out above, well, guess it depends on how you read it.

I solved the 3x3x6 cube (from any random-spot) and a bunch of the other puzzles (pyramid was easiest, link was fun, I forget the others) as a kid. Never solved the 4x4x6 cube though, it broke before I had a chance. Reading up on it a few years back, I doubt I would have, pretty tough that one (and fragile too).

yep, and i never solved it :cry;

actually, i didn't have the patience to solve it.

ya, that's what i tell myself too. but i'm not sure it's just patience. spatial recognition was never among my strong points.

There was a guy at my high school who could complete the whole thing in like 30 seconds! It was like watching lightning!

I always just took them apart by popping off one of the pieces and then taking it all apart and reassembling it. Once it's solved I can make some patterns and stuch on them which area neat. There's the easy Checkboard pattern and there's the square with the center spot different. I like that one.

There are specific algorithms to solving the rubix cube... like you do the outside rows, and then get it into a specific form... then you can solve it.

Anyone remember that cartoon with the kid who had to solve the rubix cube??

I was taught to get an "X" one one side. Then there are moves you can make that always produce the same result to get "X" shapes on 2 opposite sides. Then you go through another set of moves that will give you X's on all 6 sides. After that, fill in 2 opposite sides. By then there are only 4 blocks left that are out place and it's relatively easy to get those into the correct spot.

Yeah, I vagely remember that cartoon. The one episode I remember was when the kid was on a train running from bad guys.

Shortness of life factors and a high frustration level kept me from ever solving one. And the hard plastic kept me from breaking one.

I've got one sitting right in front of me. I can complete it in a couple of minutes. It's really not that hard.

some people just have the knack for it. i know i don't.

my SEVEN yr old son tho apparently does.

Damn you slackers, its Rubik's Cube. Enro Rubik came up with the thing. Some places call it Rubix but they are probably cheap chinese knock-offs.
