Ok...I used to play it when I was a kid waiting for the bus. It involved a tennis ball....and possibly someone in the middle of two people bouncing it back and forth? I can't for the life of me remember the logistics of the whole thing. Anyone play this in their youth?

You were supposed to get from one side to the other without getting tagged out.

I think that if the person in the middle catches the ball, he/she trades places with the person who threw it.

Believe it or not, I think you're right. This sounds familiar. Wow, what a stupid game that was.

This is a baseball related game involved with the "rundown" situation. There are two bases X feet apart with a player on each base.
A runner attempts to go from base to base without getting tagged out as the two base holders throw the ball to each other.

Sounds like "monkey-in-the-middle" to me...

Well, I sure remember Hide the Pickle. In our particular part of Pennsyltucky, we always called it Sequester the Salami, even though, strangely enough, it never involved cold cuts of any kind. :D

In gym class (thankfully, I am not required to take that anymore) we played pickleball. We had our nets a bit higher than what they'd be at for tennis.

I remember playing this, it was a great game. You have 2 'bases'...we generally used these 2 flagpoles that were about 40' apart on our playground. Your goal is to run from base to base as many times as you can without being 'tagged' (depending on who is playing it's either getting hit with the ball, or actually tagged with the ball). There were 2 people, 1 near each base, who would throw the ball back & forth trying to 'tag' people, and if they tagged you, you traded places with them.
