Anyone received their May 5th SAT score reports yet? ***GOT MINE TODAY***

Never understood the fuss over SAT's. I'm a US graduate student in EE working on my 3rd degree and have never taken an SAT. So what is the SAT supposed to do for you?

I dunno. I've never taken the SAT and I'm a self-proclaimed genius.

(Well, self-proclaimed, anyone can do that)

Never taken a college entrance exam, but I did take the GRE to get into grad school. That was interesting. 720 Analytical, 680 Quantitative, and just to prove I'm a truely illiterate engineer...540 verbal.

I took the SAT a while ago, I think it was May 5th. I just got the scores a couple of days ago. I made a 1350, which is quite good...... I will be taking the ACT later on, too.

hmm already

my bro is waiting on his

Mine came today. I did only OK...could have done better, but I didn't study, and I still didn't break 700 on math.

Total score: 1340
Math: 690
Verbal: 650

🙁

Why would you people be upset with 1300+? You know that anything over a 1200 is good enough to get you into a normal college(maybe not your superstar colleges, but so what).

I took it twice and got the exact same score both times, 1470 (800 verbal and 670 math - so much for my being good at math!).

Glad those days are over, though!! That's all anyone talked about when scores came in, at my HS.

<< 670 math - so much for my being good at math! >>

Once again...you do realize that a 670 is good right??

750 math, 740 verbal (1490 total for all you english majors 😉)

Will take it again in the fall...

You can get into "good" schools with those scores. Maybe not something along the lines of Harvard, but you don't need like over a 700 in each section for like 99% of the schools out there.

<< Some people want to get into a good college >>

lol that cracked me up..actually my 1330 was good enough to get me into UC Berkeley and a lot of my classmates from high school had lower SAT scores and still got in..so I guess Berkeley isn't a good school?

You CAN get into a good college with a SAT score of 1200 or better. Hell I only got a 970 or so on mine and I got into a good four-year university, but I decided not to go.

I guess it really just depends on the person. People with different aspirations have different expectations of their performance.

Some people want to get into a good college

Sorry, I mean great colleges like Harvard, MIT, etc..
Although they do accept a wide range of scores, and look at other things such as your grades, but having a great SAT score will be a plus.

Hopefully I'll be able to jump from 1490 up to the low or maybe even mid 1500s. Only missed 2 Q's on the math, so it's basically a crapshoot as to whether I'll be able to skate through w/ an 800 or whether i'll end up with a 710... A few questions can have a huge impact once you get higher up into the score range.

bmd, 2 Qs wrong dropped you to a 750? That must have been a crazy scale on the test you took. Normally 2 Qs wrong would only drop your score anywhere from 10-30 points.

There was some kind of nasty scale on my test, at least for the math part. I got a 750 on the math w/ 2 Q's wrong, and a 740 on the verbal w/ 4 Q's wrong and 1 left blank! Then again there were more Verbal questions than Math questions, but still...

on the math I got one wrong and my score only dropped to 790. now on the SAT II one or two questions can really effect your score when you are up in the high regions.
