Anyone receive this error in Windows Media Player?

"ClassFactory cannot supply requested class"

This is w/wmp 8 on an XP pro machine. I guess I'll install WMP 9 but I haven't heard good things about it.

The general first step would be to ensure you have the proper codec(s) installed...

yeah, I've searched google. I have the latest codecs (as far as I know). I searched here first and installed ffdshow and ac3filter.
Also have wmp9 and it still gives an error. ALthough not the same on about ClassFactory.
"Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error"


On another forum someone said a Divx player would work.
What program plays divx?
