Anyone read any good war books recently?

If you like a more fictional approach I'd recommend Herman Wouk's Winds of War and War and Remembrance. They're both excellent books about a naval family during World War II.

For someone who enjoys war stories, the Military SF genre might be worth exploring. David Drake, David Weber, Eric Flint, John Ringo, SM Stirling, and Jerry Pournelle have all done excellent work and most (all?) are ex-military.
