Anyone purchase the TDK 100pk. CD-R at CompUSA w/$20.00 rebate?

I purchase (2)TDK 100pk. CD-R through CompUSA online on 02/06/01. At the time, the CompUSA site showed that the items were available. Then, a week later, I was notified by email that the CD-R's were on backorder.

Today, I received my long awaited package. Unfortunately, CompUSA took it upon themselves to substitute my (2) TDK 100pk. of 12x cd-r with (4) 50pk. of 16x cd-r. I called Compusa and explained that the rebate was for the contents of my original order and that the rebate was not valid on the substitute items. (I'd be losing $40.00)

The CSR put me on hold and then offered to credit me for the $40.00 rebate. WoW! I'm a happy camper. Got the 16x for the 12x price.

Anyone else get the substitute that I did?
If so, make sure you call CompUSA for a credit.

Good Luck!

Hey, I was wondering the exact same thing. I got 4 50pk spindles also but these are the 100% certified ones. What was the phone number you called?

I just got the substitute 50 packs of TDK's... Even though they say Certified Plus on them, the package says Made in Taiwan... What the heck...? I thought the certified plus's were made in the US...

are the 50pks the 80 min version? I got a call from the CompUSA mgr, and she said that they'd only make good on the price for 2 50pks and would not guarantee the $20 rebate. She said there was nothing she could do, except offer that or cancel the order.

I'm gonna complain to hQ.
