Mear's, I am gonna try to ignore your post because if I get addicted to another MUD I am toast! I wish I could just take 2 months off of school, work, life; just so I could play a MUD :p (how pathetic is that)

I play UO on a daily basis. I have played it since phase 3 beta, granted I took a yr and a half vacation. It is a very fun game, and very addicting. Try it for a month, you get that much free.

Skoorb,

Its an age thing. What I noticed is that the younger you were, the more likely you were to PK... I remember the days of text-only games, and I marveled at the "community" that online games had brought.

<rant> Warning, content not for the faint of heart.

If you can't prey on the weak or the unsusepecting it takes a lot of fun away

That statement just sounds pathetic. Oh, I did my fair share of guild wars, but that is a far cry from a group of 30 dreads decending on a bunch of defenseless miners and wiping them out, stealing everything they had. I always wondered what people like them looked like... I always figured they were a bunch of skinny, pencil-necked losers who need to get their ya-ya's off by being pricks online, where anonymnity protected them. In real life when it came to fighting, I think they'd just piss their pants and run to mommy instead standing and fighting like men.

</rant>

Ahh, I feel much better now :p

I understand where you're coming from and why you say that. I also didn't like dreads coming down on me, but when the game essentially got rid of PKing I just found it very boring. Like I said, even when i was not a PK the constant threat of PKs "preying on me" is what kept me on my toes and made the game enjoyable. Afterwards when PKing was so hard to pull off the game just became exceptionally mindless because the only foe was the poorly-coded monster AI. I don't know about you but clearing dungeon after dungeon out gets very boring very quickly.

The fun of PKing, which I realized eventually, was that you could take stuff from people and I never attacked newbies, because there was no fun in it. Ocassionally I would try and PK somebody and I would realize that they were stronger than I, and I'd have to run. That was what was run. PvP is fun. Killing monsters isn't.

I used to pk miners, but only for the money/ingots for my guild.

And fishers who macroed.

And warring guilds.

And any order guilds.
